Final Fantasy gives Snowboarding a makeover
~Tide

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the annual snowboarding competition!

I am Palmer, your host for today's show! This year marks the fifth time Shinra has sponsored this tournament and so we have decided to spice up the competition!

Instead of just a race-to-the-finish like it has been traditionally, racers this year will also be judged on their style and technique on their trip down the mountain. No longer does reaching first to the finish line make the basis of winning! This is truly something you don't want to miss. Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy!

Our first racer of this year is lovable yet very skilled Mog! Hailing from the Narshe mines, this moogle can slide down the mountain with the greatest of ease and does so with extreme style! No one can beat him when it comes to sliding and dancing at the exact same time!

On a more futuristic note, Zell Dincht packs the skills and techniques needed for the race. Using his more advanced T-boards to practice, he has the finesse needed to outmaneuver his opponents

Next, a newcomer hailing from Spira, Tidus slides down the slopes with his insane speed. Perhaps too much for his opponents. While he might not have the technique or the style, he's capable of boosting his own speed and slowing down the others, and can very well take a lead that seals the deal even with other things considered!

Finally, Cloud Strife possess the unique balance on all three traits. Showing us what hours of arcade playing can do for you, he's well balanced in everything that matters and that's just what's needed for this competition!

Who's going to win? We'll find out right after some I get some tea and lard. Oh and of course, this calls for a commercial break!"

  • Mog shuffles, boogies and waltzes, demonstrating that style is what matters most
  • Zell's technique lets him edge past the other racers
  • Tidus' speed proves to be too much to handle
  • Cloud outnudges everyone, despite not being outstanding
  • Zidane gets furious that he's not included and nukes everyone before the race starts
  • A truck crashes into Palmer's commentary stand, postponing the match past snow season

Gatewalker
It was indeed a race to remember. The contenstants were lined up at the gate, and strutting thier stuff for the crowd before the race got started.

Zell was shadow boxing on his snowboard, getting ready to prove that he is capable of pulling off a Different Beat combo while shredding a slope.

Tidus, blitzball in hand, stood nearby grinning. He fully intended to win in record time, and finish with a Jecht Shot for style, hopefully knocking out the second and third place winners in the process.

Cloud, well, he stood there and did what he does best, look cool. Buster sword firmly across his back, everyone was anxious to see what kind of fancy sword techniques he would execute while leaving his opponents in the dust.

With all of the posing and posturing of the other three, it's really no wonder that everyone forgot about Mog. Well, everyone except his impromptu fanclub consiting of every young girl and cute animal in the DL...

As Palmer lowered the flag, signaling the beginning of the race, Cloud, Tidus and Zell were all rocketing out of the gate at breakneck speeds, prompting thunderous cheers from thier fans.

Mog...just stood there. But his fans weren't concerned, they sheered him on anyway, and when the other three were far enough down, Realm(in a moogle suit, no less) jumped up and yelled "NOW!"

Hopping up on his board with a flourish, the moogle let out a hearty cry of "Kupobunga!" and launched into a breathtaking Snowman Jazz.

The crowd fell quiet in confusion as a rumble started to build and crecendo. The confusion quickly turned to panic when Locke let out a stream of foul language, grabbed Celes and stole the nearest chocobo to make a quick gettaway.

Well, to make a long story short, the other three competetors, as well as most of the crowd, were burried in the Surge summoned up by the dancing moogle, and although the finish line was also destroyed, Mog was indeed the first, and only, snowboarder to cross it's location. When asked for a few comments on his victory, Mog's only comment was, "Kupo, yo." Relm(still in her moogle suit) had a bit more to add, "Cute and fuzzy will always prevail over cool and cocky! Kupo!"

Mog: 20

Clearly, Mog *will* win this one. As he slides down the mountain, the local terrain triggers some combination of his Earth Blues/Snowman Jazz dances, meaning that all of his competitors vanish mysteriously beneath a convienent avalanche...

Yay for Palmer being hit by a truck XD

Remember that scene in Bevelle where Tidus is doing crazy things on a random cable so he can crash a certain party? Just think what he could do on a snowboard.
