Season 23, Week 4
Antenora
(Wild Arms 2)

It's a showdown between two Wild ARMs bosses this week, as beautiful but deadly terrorist Antenora faces mad scientist and pseudo-religious fanatic Leehalt. The Odessa mage has one big advantage in this match, and for once it isn't her impressive damage or deadly status. Instead, it's the fact that her opponent is, well... already dead. Sure, he maintains his body with the wisdom of Hyades, but the resulting construct is a fragile thing, ill-suited to taking much punishment. And while he may return Ephemeron with all the might of its original caster, Antenora can sustain the abuse far longer; thus, she will be the one to represent their series in the finals next week.

A pirate and swordsman have fallen to the might of the prophet, yet this magician believes that she has a chace? Such foolishness. While Antenora's ability at casting spells are fairly impressive for a human, she is still a mere human, no match for one transformed by the technologies of Hyades such as himself. Let the fool dare to cast as many Ephemerons as she wants, for all the damage she inflicts will simply return to her. Meanwhile, his own attacks will gleefully nip at her ankles, with nary a worry of immediate retribution. Laughable, simply laughable. Seriously, Antenora is but a mere slip of a girl, and who ever heard of that defeating one as blessed as he?

You know, there are two things that Leehalt hates as a dueler: good healers and bosses who are more durable than he. Well, there aren't any healers left in Middle this Season, but Antenora sure as hell fits the last category. Rule of Vengence wasn't able to bridge the gap between the two fighters, and the Prophet folded with ease.

Of course, anyone could tell you that Leehalt is a rather vindictive fellow, and he remembers slights done to him for a long time. No one was really surprised, then, when Antenora was found flattened by a large Golem a few days later. Sure, having Asgard smash his enemy might make him a sore loser, but at least he came out of this with some sort of victory.

Why do Wild ARMs villains always seem to surround themselves with far more powerful servants - you've got Belselk, Antenora, Malik, and even Melody's Asgard - and yet so rarely suffer the consequences in the form of mutiny?

Must be the rampant brainwashing. Anyway, it shouldn't take long for Leehalt to find out just where he stands now, because Vinsfeld's favorite flunky won't need to stretch her faith much to strike the false prophet down.
