Life's never easy for a mage with multi-turn charge times, as Nanami certainly is. The polar opposite of her namesake fellow Light from Suikoden, Nanami is magically oriented, and not at ALL about speed. That doesn't mean she can't scrape together a few wins for herself, though. And without a doubt, Cyan Garramonde is a lucky first draw for her. After all, not only is Cyan one of the minority of characters from his game that doesn't defend Fire, Nanami's element of choice, but he also has shoddy Magic Defence and game-worst evasion, not to mention lacking speed. All Nanami needs to do, therefore, is cast Fire Storm twice, chaining that into a Purify Weird Soul on the third turn. With luck, that should be enough to off Cyan... and she should be fast enough to do this before Cyan can reach his most deadly Sword Techs.

It takes Nanami three turns to charge her Triple Fire Storm finisher, which should be enough to dispatch Cyan. Cyan, fortunately, can kill Nanami in one hit...

Unfortunately, that hit takes more than three rounds to charge. And when you're losing to a Valkyrie Profile mage due to YOUR charge time, you might as well not bother showing up to the match...

Cyan Garamonde: 6
Nanami: 9

Wow VP spell times vs. Cyan Sword Technique times... this is actually a match where Cyan's charge time will not hurt him too bad as a VP mage will get probably 1 decent spell off before Cyan can use cleave and it's all over.
