Season 3, Week 1
Riou
(Suikoden II)

The adopted son of Genkaku not only bears the same last name, but also the same Bright Shield Rune, bestowing upon its bearer the powerful Forgiver Sign and Battle Oath spells. Riou can heal himself, berserk himself for more phyiscal damage ( which is already quite respectable before that ), and Forgiver Sign makes for a powerful finisher. Though he only has one charge of Forgiver Sign, that's usually all he needs. His excellent speed and good endurance allow him to eliminate foes fast, as well as take a few hits if need be. A powerful contender, Riou strikes fear into the hearts of bosses and PCs alike.

If it weren't so completely out of character for the morose Guardian of the Dead Sea, Miguel would no doubt be laughing at his first RPGDL match. After all, though both he and Riou are powerful Holy-typed magical attackers, only Miguel has a resistance to Holy himself, giving a decided edge, as he can shrug off Riou's one casting of Forgiver Sign better than almost any in the RPGDL. As if that weren't enough, Miguel brings a terrifying magical arsenal to bear against Riou, including StrongMinded and WeakMinded, which raise and lower magic defence respectively, TurnBlack, which inflicts a weakness to Holy, and finally the dreaded Holy Dragon Sword, which can turn even the hardiest of fighters into paste in one casting. Oh, would this be a bad time to mention that Miguel has a version of doublecast? Unless the bearer of the Bright Shield Rune has the luckiest day of his life, Miguel should earn his first RPGDL win with ease.

Wow...crappy draw for Riou. Miguel resists Holy, which means Forgiver Sign is really weakened. Since Riou's physical sucks ( not to even mention how craptacular Shining Light is ), even after a Berserking, he's got no way to take this. Miguel's variety just overwhelms the little kid.
