Season 22, Week 3
Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde
(Wild Arms)

Cecilia fears nothing. Be it Metal Demons, deranged aliens or ancient beasts, the Princess of Adlehyde stands up to any challenge she may face - and what bigger challenge than facing a goddess like Myria? Her immense powers would bring fear to almost any deity - but not to Cecilia, who will take her mettle and fight. With her neverending bag of tricks, she can surely find something that shuts Myria down. All the Princess of Adelhyde needs is to survive the goddess's initial barrage of pain, and Cecilia managed to survive the near-destruction of Filgaia intact. After that, what has she to fear from the wrath of Myria?

Chosen women of destiny are in abundance this season, and so the Goddess Myria turns from the Zenithian Hero to the young Princess of Adlehyde. Though the Crest Sorceress has many tricks, none will phase Myria. Her buffing games will crumble before Sanctuary, her magics will scarcely scratch the Goddess' immortal visage, her treasured Holy Parasol means nothing to Myria’s immense physical prowess, and her nigh-infinite healing will whither before those bone-shattering blows. The foolish royal is sure to fall, finally demonstrating, perhaps, that it is indeed Myria’s place to rule us all.

"I still can't believe you won against her! I was practically dead when she pulled out that one-two combo of hers! I mean, how did you…"

Cecilia continued biting into her hamburger while she half-listened to Jack rant on and on about her latest win. It seemed like she was walking through a dream. Once she was just some low Heavy that some saw as more suitable for Middle, losing to duelers like Precis. Now… after many nights of practicing her spells, honing her abilities with them and learning the evil tricks she could do, she was finally a true Godlike, capable of slicing through one of the most competitive Heavy seasons with ease and defeating some of the league’s original Godlikes.

"Maybe I’m just stronger than you, Jack." She cheerfully said, effectively turning the swordsman’s healthy flesh colored skin tone to one best described as angry red.

“Like hell I’m weaker than some royal! Just you wait, princess, when I get in again, I’m going to win that Heavy championship, get in Godlike, and get my position as the highest ranked dueler from our Filgaia back! I’ll even beat Yunalesca just to show you how it’s done! And…"

"Oh, will you look at that!" Cecilia suddenly said after polishing off the last of the sandwiched beef products she’d ordered. "My match is about to start. Sorry to run boys, but I’ve got a goddess to beat."

"I’m not done with you yet, Princess! Rudy, don’t just sit there smiling like some silly goof! Are you going to accept the way she just…"

The voices gradually disappeared as she walked away from the cafeteria and made her way to the arena with a feeling of euphoria. A sorceress that many had dismissed as a quirky Heavy spoiler and nothing more in the earlier days, she was now being considered as a possible Godlike champion. All she had to do was defeat Myria, and no one will be able to stop her from getting the much coveted title.

She bumped into a figure, breaking out of her reverie. Blinking a bit to get her bearings straight, she looked up to see a very attractive looking man. "Um… Sorry about tha-"

She neither saw his hand move, nor the sword that it held until it had embedded itself into her chest up to the hilt. Thankfully, years of fighting demons and various duelers had rid her of the go-in-shock-and-wonder-what-the-hell-just-happened habit and she reflexively pushed her body off the blade while chanting a Heal spell at the same time.

Ramirez frowned, and with practiced ease, slit Cecilia’s throat with surgical precision. Lacking a voice to finish the spell, the sorceress fell to the floor gasping.

"Lord Galcian sends his congratulations on your first win, Magician." The Silvite said to Cecilia while she lay in a pool of her own blood. "He hopes to one day meet you in the arena again and reclaim the Aeon that is rightfully his."

After kneeling down and using Cecilia’s jacket to clean his blade of blood, Ramirez turned to leave for his match. "Welcome to Godlike."

Jack was still grumbling irritatedly a week later. "I can't believe you beat Zeal..."
Cecilia couldn't maintain the proper combination of sympathy and good humor at the moment. "Maybe if you used your head more than your sword."
"Yeah, well, we'll see how you feel after fighting Myria."
Indeed, from every which way that Cecilia had pondered the match, she just couldn't think the whole in Myria's armor. She was truly unbeatable. "No! I can't just give up, not after all that work beating Zeal!"
Across the room, Rudy perked up very suddenly. "...!"
Cecilia looked at him, puzzled, but suddenly it clicked. "Of course! I better hurry, though, I'll need Virginia's help."
*At the Match*
Cecilia twirled her staff nervously, trying to calm herself as Myria entered the arena. Apparently not wanting to linger, she had already assumed a snakelike form, rather than bothering with any trickery.
Just as Cecilia prepared to cast her opening move, Lombardia and Asgard buzzed the judges booth, providing a few seconds where Cecilia was completely unmonitered.
And then she did something completely new; Summoned the Guardian of Desire, Luceid, on loan from Gallows Caradine.
Responding to her intense desire to win the match, and reacting as the quirks of the first variation of Filgaia dictated, his spirit manifested as a sword of impossible power, the blade used by Boomerang in his last flash of life.
Golems and Dragons rather sternly scared off, the judges looked back to see Cecilia wielding a magical sword, not something expected of her. But glancing down at their handy anti-cheat sheets, they noticed her Randomizer spell and wrote it off as some newly discovered effect.
Bolstered by the full force of Desire, Cecilia was a whirl of motion, and after a long, hard battle, was victorious.
Jack was still irate. "Hey! What was all that talk about using your head instead of a sword!"
Cecilia shrugged. "Part of using your head is knowing when you need a sword."

Here I have to vote for Cecilia. She's got a LOT going for her, including her great history felling demons, demon gods, and a variety of other n'aer-do-ells as well as her wonderful range of abilities. She also has those lovely TOOLS of hers- sure, Wild ARMs doesn't let you use tools in combat, but why can't she use her Pocket Watch to help her fight? Cecilia has a wide range of abilities, good staying power, and has experience fighting physically stronger but tactically weaker opponents.

Myria, on the other hand, has the dubious honor of being a BoF boss, which if I remember correctly means she uses the same few moves (at best) over and over again, relying on higher statistics and a truckload of HP to outlast the heroes and NOT a series of tactically devastating moves to try to destroy them by a clever plan (which is the process that Wild ARMs bosses use, once again if I remember correctly).

So Myria, who is used to grudge matches about sheer numbers, is fighting Cecilia, who is used to dealing with opponents who tactically try to capitalize on her weaknesses, one of which is NOT long-term staying power. Cecilia has some widgets that are uniquely hers she can pull out to fight Myria... It would be a long, long, detailed fight.
