Season 22, Week 1
Worker 8
(Final Fantasy Tactics)

Yes, this is a horrible mismatch. Indeed, it will end in tears and all that jazz. But hey, surely people will show up in droves to watch a massive robot crush an onion in its cold, lifeless grasp! Peco's only strategy is a waiting game, but Worker 8 needs none of that. Durability or not, the Steel Giant's powerful counters will keep Peco on the defensive, giving him all the time he needs to finish off the pitiful onion with Crush and avoid the its own counterattacks at the same time.

Little onion versus Steel Giant. Doesn't seem like a very balanced match does it? The spawn of Yggdrasil won't give up without a fight, though! His massive HP count coupled with regeneration and healing gives Peco legendary durability, and his high rate of critical hits and counterattacks will keep Worker 8 on his metallic toes. With (perhaps for the first time in his DL career) a speed advantage to top all that off, the mutant vegetable may just pull off the upset.

Halbarad
French Onion Soup

Ingredients:
2 T oil
3 T butter
6 C onions, thinly sliced
½ t sugar
2 ½ qts beef broth
½ C dry white wine
salt and pepper to taste
2 C grated Gruyere cheese

Prepare onion. Recommended method: Crush lightly, then Compress with sharpened blades repeatedly until onion is thinly sliced. Dispose damaged portions of onion.

Heat oil in heavy 5-6 qt. pan. Add butter. When butter has melted, add onions and cook slowly, covered for 10 minutes. Add the sugar and salt. Cook onions slowly until onions caramelize and turn to a rich brown color. This will take 45-60 minutes.

Add wine and cook 5 minutes over low heat. Add stock and check for seasoning. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.

It was one of the most unorthodox matches seen in the arena in quite some time, but the judges agreed: Worker 8 was an excellent chef.

Worker 8: 58
Peco: 13
