Season 21, Week 5
Tir McDohl
(Suikoden Series)

Much like his rise from zero to hero in his native game, Tir McDohl's path in the DL has been a long and difficult one After amassing a whopping losing record, the first Tenkai Star began garnering hard-earned wins - including against the feared Thunder God Cid - and finally got his way into the finals. Now he faces his greatest challenge of all: a match against the Magical Emperor Ghaleon, quite possibly the most powerful DL Godlike. But even with the odds stacked against him, Tir will not give up. Slinging off Judgements at blazing speed, Teo's son will be gunning for Suikoden's first Godlike championship.

Like a man possessed, the Magic Emperor has crushed all that stands between himself and history this season. Ghaleon has already beaten one Tenkai Star, and reclaimed his title as highest-ranked dueller in the process. Now he faces another in the battle for his third Godlike championship. While Tir's magical prowess is formidable, even he must bow to the sheer strength of the Magic Emperor's doublecasting. Whether he fights defensively to ward off any stray Judgements, or simply tries to atomize the Young Master with his powerful attack spells and instant death, Ghaleon is prepared to do whatever it takes to win.

Oh dear lord this isn't fair at all. If this contest measured with ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING other than direct combat, maybe Tir would have a fighting chance. It would be about even if he could call on the power of Tenkai stars everywhere: to have a little help from their huge pile of friends. Maybe if Tir went to the arena and fought Ghaleon, army to army, Tir might win (since Ghaleon, Magic Emperor or no, doesn't win any awards for being a skilled or able leader). Tir had a wonderful power structure and his achievements stuck around for a very long time, whereas the Magic Emperor's achievements are usually crushed to the ground by a very idealistic and friendly teenaged boy who overcomes adversity (though this angle won't work since Riou, who is just as idealistic, friendly, and teenaged as Tir, not to mention held a huge record for overcoming adversity (Hey, Luca Blight is one SCARY fella. Anyone who manages to take him down deserves a gold star) was defeated with relative ease).

Maybe, just MAYBE, if the terms of the contest follow some other route that doesn't let Ghaleon showcase his superior combat prowess compared to Tir's, then Tir might stand a chance.

This is terribly unlikely.

If it comes to combat, it can be summed up in a few points.

1) No matter how fast Tir is, he isn't going to get any more than one action for every one that Ghaleon gets.

2) Ghaelon, as a Final-boss character, is not suceptible to instant death.

3) Tir might have some seriously painful spells, but at his absolute strongest he can't cast them more than four or five times. Then there's the fact that Ghaleon has Chaos Shield which would nullify one of Tir's precious few useages of his Cursed rune.

4) Did I mention that Tir IS suceptible to instant death?

Tir might have as his support one of the most powerful remnants of creation, but Ghaleon has the power of either/both Althena and/or Zophar, which both could create and destroy a world in their own right. This isn't even a contest. It would only be a contest if Ghaleon, as a PC with no divine powers fought Tir as a PC with his cursed rune.

Tir McDohl: 16
Ghaleon: 46

Now lets pretend this is a hypothetical situation.

Tir goes first. He attacks Ghaleon for about 10 damage.

Ghaleon Then goes. He uses Fate Storm.

You can't argue with a Fate Storm to the face, an easy win for Ghaleon.

Sigh. I wonder if Tir will *ever* get a championship in Godlike...

Burn in hell, Ghaleon!!!! Tir pulls out his mad silent main skills for the win, and triple-turns and kills the silly slow-poke before he even goes! A new champion is crowned! Good triumphs over evil again! Huzzah!

I voted for Tir because I hate Ghaleon and don't really care if Tir wins.

Arc
Winner of McDohl vs Ghaleon gets to fight Krelian for Champion of the Universe, right?
