Season 21, Week 4
Chris Lightfellow
(Suikoden III)

The Silver Maiden has finally hit her stride after a string of early exits, and not even the bearer of the Soul Eater will stand in her way this season. While the full might of the cursed Rune may be too much even for the knight captain, her own True Water Rune is uniquely suited to Tir-slaying. Silent Lake chokes off McDohl's access to his deadly spells and turns the match into a battle of sword and staff, one in which Chris's heavy armor will be an obvious asset Tir cannot hope to overcome. The outcome is simple and clear-cut, just the way any true warrior prefers it.

Everyone’s favorite Godlike spoiler is back once more to disrupt the order and balance of the Duelling League! Having made his second Godlike semifinal, everyone's favorite Soul-Eater wielding silent main takes on fellow Suikoden hero Chris Lightfellow this week. And Master McDohl has got to be smiling at his good luck, for the Silver Maiden lacks the immunity to his Deadly Fingertips - something that can't be said for his first two opponents. They've simply stopped trying, haven't they? The championship is in sight for Tir, and it's his for the taking!

In terms of Tir vs. Chris, since it really depends on who acts first (since they each have an ability that will completely screw the other over). Since Chris Lightfellow, for all of her advantages, was never one of the fastest characters in Suikoden III, whereas Tir Mcdohl had at LEAST above-average speed, I have to put my bet on Tir getting off Hell or Deadly Fingertips (both of which always work against suceptible enemies) before Chris manages to fire off Silent Lake.

Provided that Chris DOES get Silent Lake off first, THEN it comes down to a battle of blows where it's a surprisingly even match, I'd wager. Tir is a resoundingly broken character, being one of the best attackers and magicians in not one but TWO of the Suikoden games, and thus I'd guess it's fairly even. If Tir gets Chris into a Suikoden duel (where one or both of the fighters have to shout something relating to what they're going to do next before they act), his being mute has the added advantage of making him harder to predict. Heaven Fang Staff is a reasonably good hitter (though admittedly not as strong as Chris' sword) and Tir doesn't have the advantage of Chris' heavy armor, so all he'd have is speed in a straight fight.

Any other number of Tir vs. Chris Suikoden-Only Head to Heads are brutally unbalanced in favor of Tir; If they fight in a Major Battle, Chris has at most only three other people with her, whereas Tir brings his whole bloody army. In terms of home decorating, Toran Castle is much larger, grows much more, and is supremely more interesting than Lake Castle. In terms of overall importance to the story, Chris is a reasonably valuable and pivotal character but Tir is the Tenkai Star as well as the central being of importance. Tir also has the distinction of never having his rune levered off of him forcibly by an angry nemesis- no matter how hard Windy tried, she couldn't get it off of him.

Though in ALL honesty, it might come down to the fact that Chris might be willing to fight dirty to defeat Tir, whereas Tir had ALL of his strategy and fighting-dirty executed for him by Maithu(who is in many ways infinitely better than Caesar; Brilliant Schoolteacher With Powerful Morals versus Brilliant... uhh... whatever the hell Caesar is. Hippie? Vagrant? Scruffy Guy? Relative of Maithu Silverburg?). Another bonus count to Tir in the major battle scenario; Tir would have Maithu, the Original Genius Silverburg, whereas Chris would have Caesar as her Silverburg.

Despite the fact that I love Chris to death, the majority of situations in which I see her fighting Tir have Tir being victorious.

Chris Lightfellow: 28
Tir McDohl: 43

In a battle of Suiko Mains, there's only one fair way of deciding a victor...

Who had the cuter mascots?

Last I recall, McDohl never had any mascots recruited, thus losing via default.

...

WHAT?!!! It's a perfectly legitimate way of deciding a winner! Honest! <_< >_>

In battle, Chris is a freaking goddess. However, she lacks something really important that she needs here: speed. Tir's spells are based off of his speed, and Tir's got a speed like a ninja. Chris's spells are based on skill, and she just can't compete

Shame too. If she had speed, Tir wouldn't hold a chance.

Chris has Silent Lake and Tir is fundamentally a mage. This isn't hard, people. What the hell, is Tir and his Heavan Fang Staff going to outslug heavy armored Chris?

If you say yes, there is a bridge in Tethe'alla I have for you to buy.
