Season 21, Week 2
Lowe
(Shining Force)

Lowe's not much of a fighter, but he is one hell of a healer, and that's an ability that can serve him quite well in a duel. With an opponent whose offense is as middling as Kain's, this cleric will easily be able to alternate healing and attacking, and while his strikes may not do much damage on their own, with enough time they can whittle anybody down. Lowe has that time.

Kain's legacy in the Duelling League is one of close losses when it counts. This season, Baron's top Dragoon is out to finally put an end to this infuriating trend, by force of spear and dragoon spirit. First on his hit list is a puny cleric, unable to stop him from making himself unhittable with Jump, or crack his vaunted Dragon armor. Prepare yourself, Light, for your master has arrived.

This fight is actually closer than it seems at first; Lowe's attack power, while bad, isn't so bad that it can't kill Kain eventually, and he's got ample time to heal while the dragoon is in the air. In a number of alternate universes, he's even got the stats to pull off a surprise win.

Sadly, all those universes no longer exist, since a Shining Force priest winning a physical duel is enough to make even the most benevolent god turn away from his creation in utter disgust.

Lowe: 11
Kain Highwind: 52

That Kain, can could lose one on one battles is inconceivable. Look what happened to Cecil when he tried. He got smoked. You can't touch him. With jump, he is well nigh invincible one on one. Physical attacks nor magic can reach him in the air. The only people he could ever lose to, are those that are faster, and have an overpowering offense, or that can cast a paralysis/stone spell. Remember, jump also makes him do 2X damage as well. For this weeks match, sure, Lowe could heal himself for a while, but that's all he would have time to do, also, if I remember correctly, his defense wasn't what I'd call stellar. Kain would come down on him for an easy 3K damage at least, then be back in the air before Lowe could attempt a physical attack. And when Lowe runs out of MP, he's done.

A long, uninteresting, and dull battle awaits. Kain attacks, Lowe heals, on and on. However, Kain is doing just a little more damage then Lowe can heal effectively. Eventually Lowe falls and Kain is declared the winner.
