Season 20, Week 3
Hiro
(Lunar 2: Eternal Blue)

This tenacious tomb raider and savior of the world has managed to fight his way to a second match for the first time since Season 6, and Althena knows he isn't going to be beaten easily. He brings all of his usual standbys to the bout, of course; the fiendishly powerful Triple Sword, the whistling blades of his wind magic, and his own impressive quickness of foot. The key to this match, though, lies in Hiro's bright young mind and adaptive tactics. All of his Duelling League victories so far, you see - against Hugo, Tatjana and most recently Claude Kenni - saw him against opponents with impressive damage and quite a bit of healing to fall back on, and just guess Roufas's chosen style of fighting. He even sports the power of invisibility, much like Col. Tatjana before him. Hiro would probably more exerted by a leisurely walk in the park.

Crushing Baralai was just a warmup for Gradius's fearless leader. Now that he's gotten his introduction to the DL out of the way, people know to fear the name of Roufas. He'll increase the scope of that street cred by inflicting a most painful beating on Hiro. Although Triple Sword is fearsome, Hiro only has the MPs to use it a few times in a duel; Roufas can Mindheal for far longer than that. What's more, Awakening gives Roufas the speed to go before Hiro can get off a second attack, and raises his defense to the point where only Triple Sword will require a healing. The Blood Chalice stops Hiro's backup Instant Death, and Life Sprinker is respectably painful in its own right. Deadend's Instant Death could produce an even quicker kill, and Deflect will provide evasion enough to make Hiro's attempts to damage Roufas seem all the more pathetic.

"You recorded the entire thing?!" Hiro looked over at Roufas with something not short of murderous rage.

"Yep. Your entire plot with Edge and Claude.. and the party while your girlfriend took a perverse dip in a Blitzball arena. I'm sure Lucia won't be happy..." Roufas just smiled at Hiro, without a whit of guilt on his face."Sigh. Fine." In disgust, Hiro threw down his sword and left the arena. "Never should have agreed to listen to what he had to say.. or to what Edge had to say.."

Roufas reached for his cell phone, and made a call. "It worked. No problem, TimeLord, I'll have those Ghaleon lackeys taken care of for you. Thanks again for using TimeRecord to pick up that entire.. event."

Hiro: 24
Roufas: 26
