Quest for Knowledge!

From the Nanjo Corp studios, it's Quest for Knowledge! Now entering the studio are today's contestants.

A swordsman from Iselia, Lloyd Irving!
A knight from Bound Kingdom, Dekar!
An adventurer from Parm, Justin!
And, our returning champion, a magician with no fixed address, Viki!

And now, the host of our show, Dr. Lucca Ashtear!

Good evening, and welcome to our contestants. Last week, we saw arguably the greatest come-from-behind victory in Quest for Knowledge history, as Viki ran the final category to finish one point ahead of Wakka. Can she do it again? Well, our three challengers will have something to say about that, as will our Round 1 categories, which are:

  • Science
  • Cooking for Dummies
  • On the Map
  • Crossword Clues "M"
  • Swords

As always, four questions to a category, and the points are doubled in Round 2. The highest score at the end wins. As our returning champion, Viki, you have first selection.

All right, cooking for one point. And the question is...

  • Lloyd thinks his way to a glorious victory
  • Dekar can't lose!
  • The spirit of adventure helps Justin win it all
  • Viki again lucks her way into another win

"And, as the second round begins, we have a four-way tie, with two points apiece. This is still anyone's game, but Viki will have first selection from these categories..."

Viki tuned out Lucca's talking, instead choosing to look at a person with a funny hat.

"Viki, it's your selection," said Lucca, a hint of annoyance in her voice.

Viki smiled. "Hello!"

"Would you just choose a category?"

Viki tilted her head, subconsciously willing power to her Blinking Rune. "Teleportation?"

And her opponents vanished into thin air, leaving her alone on the stage.

"You have got to be kidding me," muttered Lucca.

Viki smiled. "I'm Viki!"

Lloyd: 11
Dekar: 15
Justin: 8
Viki: 21

Viki has an edge in On The Map, having actually been pretty much everywhere on it. Or, so you'd think, except she never actually had a map the entire time. The rest is a failure for her, especially Science, since she violates the laws of physics and time-space constantly.

One MIGHT think Dekar likes Swords, and that's enough. But he also likes some axes. Frankly, there's not enough room in his brain for sword trivia once you get past Swinging Different Pointy Things Into Squishy Parts.

Justin....Yeah. Even worse at swords, having two other equip options. The rest is, well, beyond Justin.

Lloyd has maps. He's seen the whole world from sky level. He uses only swords, and there two at once. He's a decent cook. And most importantly, unlike the rest of these deliquients, he found time to STAY IN SCHOOL while saving the planet. Lloyd wins, and Professor Daravon drags the rest off for "Learning of Remedy Taking!".
