Season 18, Week 5
Fiora
(Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword)

For the fourth time in five seasons, a representative of Fire Emblem has reached the Middle finals. Now, the task for Fiora, the eldest of the three Pegasus sisters, is to succeed where Guy and Florina failed, and take home a title. Fortunately, Fiora has three advantages her predecessors lacked: age, experience, and an opponent with typical female-magic-user durability. With excellent resistance to shrug off Kyra's status and attack magic and techniques, it should only take a few well-placed sword or lance attacks from the pegasus knight captain to end this match, earning Fire Emblem its second Middle championship.

Two sweet girls from the cold lands now square off in the arena. Kyra, the Esper from Dezolis, and Fiora, a Pegasus Knight hailing from the snowy plains of Ilia. But Kyra's warmth has the edge. Fiora's pegasus and weapon skills may be graceful, but she can't deal well with Kyra's Warla barrier, which will shield her from lance or sword swings. To add insult to injury, Kyra can just cast the Telele spell right afterwards, making Fiora's offense an utter joke. After that, Kyra can easily outlast her with plentiful healing. After Rika, Rune and Chaz's championship runs, Kyra is ready to bring honor to the Algol System once more.

Kyra and Fiora had rather painstaking battles throughout the season. So, they decided their match would be decided differently this time. The thing is, Fiora also read lullaby stories to children in Ilia as a backout job aside being a Pegasus Knight... so, she decided the match would be a Rabbit vs. Turtle style race. The judges agreed to that, for all that it sounded very odd.

Now, Fiora racing against a bare-footed mage while she had a swift pegasus to use was deemed too unfair. Kyra needed a mount. The DL committee searched all around for animals she could use to ride, but, apparently, all the Suiko mounts and Pokémon were out of commission. Something about a vacation in Costa Del Este or whatever. The only one that was available to Kyra was... Blastoise, who, due to a big hangover with Cagnazzo last week, missed the bus to Costa Del Este. The turtle, despite the heartbreak, agreed happily to be Kyra's mount.

The result of the race? Kyra won. Despite the swiftness and elegance of Fiora's pegasus, it just couldn't keep up with Blastoise's high-powered waterblast dashes. Kyra's constant castings of Nafoi to raise steam and confuse Fiora's sight didn't help either.

Kyra, since then, decided to adopt Blastoise as a pet, which was viewed oddly by some people in the DL. Apparently, yaoi isn't the only variation of disturbing sexual contents in RPGs.

Fiora, on the other hand, didn't get off so bad. A few days later, she managed to reinforce Ilia's army with a battalion of Blastoise Mage Knights. And she got a promotion out of the idea. While it wasn't nearly as cash-fulfilling as a Middle belt prize, it still helped her pay the loan she got from Farina in order to buy a new swimsuit.
