Season 42, Week 4
Lani
(Final Fantasy IX)

Lani’s axe has cried out for blood, and Lani has more than delivered. After her deserved meteoric rise through Light, Lani looks to accomplish the same in Middle. And the bounty hunter is not one to stopped by an annoying teenage spouting platitudes about the power of love and hope. With her superior speed and her potent magic, Lani will be able to dispatch the wannabe pilot in just a few swift hits. Best of all, Lani’s spells don’t check magic evasion, rendering Yuki’s Flash impotent! He may only have one chance to take Lani out before she sends him to a Water-y grave. And on top of that, any physical attacks Yuki sends her way have a chance of being countered back, and Yuki’s evasion may not take him out of the way while moving. Yes, Lani may indeed be able to win this match by just sitting back and letting the blows come, but if she decides to go for the slugfest, there's little that'll hold her back from thrashing this kid in no time, either!

Flying through the air with the greatest of ease, the daring young pilot Yuki has overwhelmed everyone thus far, grabbing several major victories against some respectable opponents. Even his current opponent, Lani, the Light-turned-Middle more-inept-assassin-than-Flonne will easily fall prey to Yuki's tricks. Durable on average to anything sent his way, Yuki can take whatever Lani throws at him and come back for more. Of course, with a single use of Flash, Yuki won't have to take anything else sent his way - he can easily dodge all of her easily evaded attacks with little difficulty. A constant stream of Flash-enhanced sword strikes will keep Lani on the defensive, and considering how frail the girl is, a single Dragon Slash might end the fight faster than it even began. Speed, strength and the power of love can triumph over anything - when Yuki flies in the sky it's not like he's dreaming - with all worries behind him, he's bound to come out on top!

Yuki ended up waiting half the day before his match was finally called in his favor. You see, Amarant was assigned to judge the match, but neither he nor Lani showed up.

Competent reports described a lurid scene in Zidane's house.

Slightly less competent reports mentioned a Risk game with Garnet.

And the most questionable ones said something about "strip continents."

Which, in the end, would explain why Garnet, fully clothed, was found scrubbing the chairs afterward and muttering about the wine, while Amarant was found in a dumpster three blocks away. Lani, meanwhile, just decided to sleep the alcohol off.

Ahhh, Yuki, defeating his female opponent with the power of Flash.

Truly, Alonso has taught him well.

Alfina's still not speaking to him. Well, among people.
