Season 12, Week 1
Palom
(Final Fantasy IV)

After losing a match in the semis of Season 3, the child prodigy from Mysidia's black magic school is back for another round. Returning with his draw of status spells, as well as the high damage Flare, he's got everything he needs to beat the introverted, crossbow-wielding Jacques. With the ability to raise his damage by boasting about his own talents, he could finish this in one shot. As long as his poor durability and speed don't hold him back, Palom should take the first round of Light, and slowly be on his way to prove he's too good for this division.

Reloaded and ready to rock, Jacques is set to shoot up the DL ladder this time around. Returning from a rough loss against Bowser a few seasons back, this member of the Harmonia Border Patrol must first go through Palom. However, this shouldn’t prove a problem for the mute arrow-slinger. A double volley of crossbow bolts will put the tyke in a world of hurt, and Jacques' time in the magic study will ensure his Magic Resistance allows him to survive a powerful Flare incantation. From there, he just lock and fires again to advance onward.

Palom makes Lezard look like a durability god. I don't buy him surviving the stress motion puts on his body, much less one of Jacques' attack sequences.
