Season 34 is here! PASSION! GUSTO! All the excitement of a new season makes sure that the DL's Monstrous Pit is at its peak of battle! Champions reappear to defend their title. New characters try to prove their worth in the arena. Old veterans try to add new wins to their record. There's nothing quite like a new season of the DL, ay? Of course, there's Last Week's Results to look at first.

Godlike starts off with a bang, with a match between the master of backflips and martial arts, Songi, against the top Wiseman and possessor of some of the most frightening magic around, Indalecio. Both opponents are known for their impressive damage, from Songi's long, punishing chain of physicals to Indalecio's Earthquake spell, which devastates PC's and bosses alike. As time goes on Songi's combo will do less damage..but will Indalecio be able to take advantage of that? Only time will tell!

Edwin is one of the few contestants to hail from a PC game. A man with a nearly inexhaustible spell list, he has everything from damgae to status to shielding himself from blows. But versatility alone won't save him in this match! A newcomer, Lyon not only brings her Nagamaki blade, but also the power of the Twilight Rune, which makes her quite the threat. Edwin's not one for backing down, however, and Lyon still has to hit him in order to win. Only adequate levels of GUSTO will guarantee victory here, ay?

Hailing from the same game(and the same side, no less), Mua and Sharon are forced to fight each other this week. Mua is the epitome of a tank, with a nigh-impenetrable physical defense. Sharon's no slouch either, with a good amount of evade thrown in. Both contestants will have a hard time damaging each other, though Sharon may have an advantage in a slugest due to her Wind Rune. However, Mua can hit her while she's in the middle of casting, which may cause problems. Who will be the first to fall?

Only in the Light Division can a gentle healer be forced to take on a mermaid. Mist, fresh from a successful NR career, has alll kinds of healing and more, with her various spell attacks and a trusty smack with a staff. Irenes, meanwhile, has the usual CC repetoire of attacks, attacks, and more attacks. Mist may be forced on the defensive..but then again, that's what she's good at! Irenes has to run her out of MP to win, but it's going to be an uphill battle all the way, signors.

So, without further introduction, the first round of the Monstrous Pit awaits you!

If some part of the week's matches puzzles you, or you just want to talk about it, head on over to the Bonus Match Ideas Post and read all about it!

Aye! Before you go, take a look at this picture one of skilled artists drew up, yah? A look into what happens when a game is ranked!? It is a great thing to have new friends in the arena, even if some get left out. But that's spoiling the fun! See the graceful art for yourself.

Now that the introduction to the latest week of excitement in the Monstrous Pit is done, I believe you are ready for the next episode in the ever-delightful, ever-violent, and ever-whacky hijinks of that (not-so) lovable group of wage slaves in Behind The Scenes!
Yet another season over, Ghaleon's another championship up, and I've got a brand new cut on my knee. I swear, Odin makes the worst partner in tug of war.
I did my best! I can't hold on as well as that octopus with all his six arms!
Eight.
Just did, thanks.
...why do I try?
Ah, come on - he lowers the overall IQ average, which makes you lot look smarter. That's something useful, right?
Yeah, I suppose.
I still don't see how Odin being a waste of space makes the rest of you any more valuable, but whatever helps you get through the day.
Insulting the All-Father isn't in your best interests! For soon you shall all bow before my true power!
Ah, Odin, just the minimum-wage janitor I was looking for. Clean-up in aisle eight.
Well, I guess I could go for a sandwich right now. Ok!
...what?
Just let him be, boss. Probably for the best.
Right. Anyway, I'm just here to remind our inform our readers about several new features that are coming to the RPGDL soon. We'd like you to comment on them in the comments section of the arena, or on the boards, if you have anytng to say. First of the new features soon to come are on-site reviews, so if you happen to have any ideas or interest in this subject, please do share with us. Second, those of you interested in fanfiction, we'd like your opinions and ideas too. Give us feedback if you have any. Thank you for your time. Chisato?
Yes, thank you Nate. Now, without further ado, welcome to Behind the Scenes, dear readers! Welcome back to another season of excessive pain and sufferring, all without the Purgatory component! I'm Chisato Madison, and these are my not-so-loyal cohosts and slaves!
Hey, I'm kind of loyal!
Me too!
But I'm not. Yeah, definite Brutus here. I'd stab her in the middle of the senate any day.
Morte, the Ides were yesterday.
Right, I know, but I can dream, can't I?
It's not in your contract. But you know what is? Introducing the first guests tonight! Get cracking, Shakespeare reject!
I'll get right on that. So...Ghaleon? Nope, been done before. Songi...no. Lost to Menardi, reminds me of Vegeta, so not worth it. Why must Godlike suck so much?
Suck? I do not suck! I killed Odin and destroyed the world!
You killed Odin? What an amazing feat! Please, please, go on!
Finally, a worthy interview! First, I stole the Dragon Orb, then I blew him apart while he tried to protect his little girlfriend!
So you killed someone with stolen power while they were protecting someone else? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
Yeah, way to make Odin look good.
Wanker.
I...
I bet you're nothing without that Dragon Orb! Let's just see what happens when we...oops.
Ok, Jean needs to remember that the entire Fire Emblem cast is lactose-intolerant before having a wine and cheese party...is that the Dragon Orb on the ground? Loki!
Odin! I...uh...hi! Sorry about the killing you thing! Don't hurt me!
Hah! Now is the time! Feel my wrath! Spiritual Mopper!
...Loki really is that pathetic without the Dragon Orb? Wow. I never would have guessed.
Is this a sign of things to come?
Yes! Soon, I shall be ranked, and the entire RPGDL shall tremble at my...mop!
You do have Gungnir, you realize? That's a bit more threatening than...the mop.
But I don't want to get it dirty!
The mop or the spear?
Let's ignore Odin like usual and continue, shall we? Virgil, since you're here, can I ask for your take on your part in Xenosaga: Episode Three?
I insult Shion and leave at the climax of the first disc. Personally, I can't think of a better way to have gone out.
Insulting Shion...what a noble profession.
It pays the bills, and keeps her depressed enough to never reproduce. I figure I'm doing the world a favour.
I love this guy. Can we keep him?
Much as I'd like to stay, I need to go haunt Shion's dreams tonight. The later I do this, the more likely I am to interrupt something with Kevin...which makes me shudder to think of it.
We'll torture more guests together later! So...hey, these two look kind of cute...
Cute?! I'll show you cute! I am a Queen's Knight! I am the most beautiful, most skilled, most amazing fighter here, and you will treat me as such!
So another psycho? Ok. Now, Mint...
I'm not done with you! Hiya! ...my sword broke!?
Hey...that kind of...slightly...stung?
I can heal you. But it doesn't look like you need it.
Hey, I remember you, Mint! You won a Not Ranked championship in Light! You think you can do it here? I mean, surely my own victories inspired you to greatness! Look, I've even slain the great Loki!
That's...nice. I'm just going to try my best to win, and if not, then I'll try again later.
How nice. Anything else?
Nope, that's about it. I'm not that interesting.
Like so many other people here.
Why won't you listen to me!?
Because no one cares about you. Ok, speaking of people we don't care about, here's some people from Heavy, Gruga and Janus Cascade.
Where's Gruga from?
The only Janus I know is the one with a cool cape and a scythe.
Uh...
Hey now, what about...
You were last in over twenty seasons ago - if it took that long, do you really think people care about you? And Gruga...only Arc the Lad females get any respect outside of Godlike, so you're doomed to lose first round.
Such a good counselor, Morte. You need to do a hotline for depressed teens. Could really do some...well, evil.
And Middle's filled with...one of Chisato's favourites! Edge!
That's the name. I'm ready for another fantastic season. I've even planned the victory speech for when I conquer Middle. All the girls will swoon!
What a pig. Who else is on the list?
Bwhahahahaha!
Looks like you need to pick your poison, chief.
Arsenic or cyanide?
Both, as usual. Now, come here you two.
I have princesses to capture! I'm out of here!
And that's my cue to skidaddle!
I think I'll be on my way too. I switched the chief's usual poison with her coffee. She should be keeling over any moment now.
You're so bad, Morte. But what can you do?
Just run and pray it's all good! Thanks for watching, folks! Return here next week for some more fun, excitement and entertainment at the expense of others! Goodnight and goodbye!
