I would describe Rayman's plot as very Fenrir-friendly, yes.

FF Record Keeper:  this is not a full RPG, it's a mobile time waster as much as any other. It just happens to occasionally throw semi decent boss challenges or resource management puzzles at you while being covered with a veneer of FF nostalgia and nifty sprites for FF characters who never had them before. It's also kind of fun to make a party of various FF heritage characters and not have to play a Rhythm game. Because really the whole experience is basically Theatrhythm's team building aspect with less derpy graphics and no rhythm element. Which is perfect for playing between classes or being bored on a short train when I don't have time for Smash.

But yay, Vanille will make a good healer option! I even kind of like her. Which is more than I can say for Lenna or Rinoa.
Currently farming the FF5 event dungeon to buy some of the rare orbs the event offers. I like this system way more than the gatcha system.

Saints Row 3 - In which the snatch missions get really fucking nuts. I guess I should finish the Dr, Genki sidequests, with higher bullet resistance and health, they're considerably more trivial. Pierce's final drug-dealing mission was also utterly insane. Do those cars grow out of trees or what? Good thing the Ciddy method works like a charm: unload the shotgun on the chassis until it blows up, watch things melt.

This game is far more fun than it has any right to be.

Fire Emblem 7 - I'm continuing to get through this at a nice clip. I am about to do the chapter where you get Lyn and Florina back, which is definitely worth rejoicing over. As much as the overarching plot of the game has major issues, there have been some decent individual scenes scattered in the game, and a lot of the characters are distinct and memorable.

Is anyone playing Witcher 3? I've read a lot about it and everyone seems to like it but then I hear clips of Geralt's gruffy gruff gruff voice again and see the grimdark anger sadness and the desire to visit that world completely goes away.

If you don't like Geralt being a sassy gruff person then I'm not sure the Witcher games are right for you.

I've been playing it and enjoying the hell out of it.
I actually quite liked Witcher 2 but I think the series sometimes tries to hard to establish a tone that I find a little laughable. It's a well considered world but it can also feel dark to the point of goofiness. I dunno.

Final Fantasy Timewaster Edition For iOS - So yeah, it's free and something mindless to do during downtime. Currently slaving away at daily dungeons and FF6.

So, finished Ace Attourney vs. Prof. Layton.  Game is pretty good at what it set out to do.  On the one hand, the puzzles felt easier and not quite as good as the earlier Layton games.  But then, that's a complaint I've been feeling about the series as a whole.  One thing it did do is give a highly polished Layton experience.  As for the Wright side of the gameplay, they added in a few new mechanisms, one of which (comparing different parts of the testimony against another) I kinda wish would make it into the main series.

As for the plot, its resolution is very, very Layton.  Not sure how much more than that I want to say, but, I was kinda expecting a twist like that the entire time.

FE:Awakening - Picked this up, suspect I'm just going to leave it on the back burner, so also playing it on Classic Hard.  Just finished saving Emmeryn and noodling around with side stuff.

Borderlands: Pre-Sequel - It's very much Borderlands 2 on the moon.  They hyped the new laser weapons a lot, but all they really seem to be is just a new weapon type, nothing really worth noting (though they are fun).  On the other hand, the low gravity and low oxygen environment has been used to change the gameplay by adding a O2 guage, and giving you a pack that lets you double jump with pretty good control and power stomp things below you.  It does a pretty good job of making small changes that makes the thing feel a lot more different than it actually is.

Currently playing as Athena, her melees are ok, though the range is ass.  But her big draw so far is the shield.  90 degree field of mostly invincibility?  Check.  Powers up as it takes hits?  Check.  Cool and potent Captain America style shield toss at the end of it?  Check.  Fast recharge time so you can do it lots? Check.

I love this freaking shield.  And her snark is coming in as a close second.

Victoria:Revolutions:VIP

So, yeah, I've been fiddling around with this game for a while, and eventually I realized something.  When they made VIP, they changed the map, but left the original Grand Campaign in.  This means you wind up in a world without rubber, and as anyone can tell you, the modern world, especially once you get near the 1890s, needs rubber.  So, a lot of my early runs were flawed and ended poorly.

So, I started again, and decided to check out the VIP campaign with Prussia.  They start off kinda weak.  I mean, they have a decent selection of provinces, more coal than you can shake a stick at, and start with a respectable amount of factories, but they have only like 19M people.  That is tiny.  It also meant that industrialization meant that I wound up with almost no farmers at one point.  Fortunately, eventually unification happened (though, the Franco Prussian War was amusing since France had the only land route in fortified and manned with a lot of entrenched troops, I couldn't go the historical way, so I loaded up troops on my superior navy and invaded Paris from the Channel).

The one thing I enjoy looking at is the different way the military is handled in the various Paradox games, and this is probably one of the strongest showings for the navy yet.  Given they're fast, don't suffer attrition, and give bonuses to coastal combat, they potent even without getting into the fact that colonial warfare means being able to go anywhere in the world.  And the navy is the means by which one is able to go anywhere.  While land units are still needed to be able to take and hold land, if you don't have a navy, then there's a lot of conflicts where you simply won't have the troops in place to do either.

So, how does this observation fit into this playthrough?  England.  In the standard campaign, I've found England to be on top of their naval game and to have dozens of the top class ship ready to roll.  Naturally, this makes going to war with them a nightmare scenario as your fleet is probably going to get smashed.  And because they're Britain, your land army, however strong it might be, is piddly and useless against their island if you can't manage to land on it.  In this game, however, they contented themselves with about a hundred ships, all wooden.  Well, not entirely, they had a handful of ironclads and monitors.  This became relevant around 1889 when the Scramble of Africa was underway and they decided they wanted me out of colonizing.  At this point, I had about 50 Protected Cruisers, and a dozen Proto-Dreadnaughts in addition to another 50 Ironclads.  It led to the odd situation where Brittania not only didn't rule the waves, but they quickly managed to have no fleet at all, and they did worse than their allies in the war.  Britain managed to harry me in one of my colonial holdings, whereas British India managed to kill one of my armies (granted, I made a dumb mistake) and kept their fleet (they made sure to avoid fighting me), and Canada also managed to off some of my divisions and they were the only ones who managed to win a naval fight against me (Unlike the rest of the British Empire, they had a PC and it managed to catch an escort of Ironclads and Monitors off guard).  Making this even worse, they didn't have many troops in England or Scotland so I could walk all over the place, while they had more than enough troops on Ireland to wreck my shit, but they had no ships to move them with, nor ships to break my blockade with.

Oddly enough, while Canada rebuilt their fleet and a few years later were the third strongest fleet in the world (quality, not quantity), England declined, and declared war on me again.  After losing their transports in that second war (which were all, for some reason, hanging out in the Sea of Japan and got accidentally killed because I was there for the Boxer Rebellion), they seem to have finally come around to building a modern fleet.

I just checked Rayman Legend's intro and it's just not as fun. I Mmight not get it just for that.

Dragon Age Inquisition Solo: Finished. Fitting that the end boss is a three part boss fight with 1) A mage like any other in the game 2) A dragon like any other in the game 3) An unique fight that dies to me pressing R2 and playing FF Record Keeper instead.
I got way bored with the game at the end but still finished it for the hell of it.
It's an interesting game that doesn't really work and it's crazy how it got universal praise?

Pros: Really fun world to explore. Judging people on your throne doesn't get old. You can punch your allies (I punched Solas)
Cons: Bad battle system, bad plot (Corypheus is still the worst villain) and Bioware conversations just don't work anymore.

Wasted potential: There's good lore but it's hard to care about lore in a game with a mediocre storyline. This is like a Crocodile Dundee MMORPG filled with books giving details on the Crocodile Dundee multiverse. We don't care about your Crocodile Dundee facts, you lunatics.
Also, all the council stuff could be interesting! Here is how they go: Various delicate political situations are explained to you, each of your advisor has a different plan, and then you get to choose which plan you'll follow. You don't do anything next, you just wait for the results. (This would have been a good way to avoid save scumming!) But since it's an AAA game, choosing one advisor over another amounts to literally nothing 99% of the time. It's all pointless. It also feels extremely disconnected from the main game because in the main game you're this woman killing bears and not the leader of a massive movement.
As I typed this I saw a mysterious post credits scene that could have fit in Kingdom Hearts

Gourry I suggest playing Witcher 3 with Polish VA and English subtitles, it is pretty fun and gives that Eastern European vibe.

In the menu there's actually a language slider from English to Polish (just like there's a HUD size slider for example, you can choose a small HUD or a big HUD with various increments)
So anyway the language slider means you can choose a language appropriate to your level of hardcore 1337ness. It goes English -> French -> German -> Polish.
Go full Polish, you are badass.

I would choose to play all games in Polish if given the chance, especially Planescape Torment.

I look more favorably to DAI's character stuff moreso after watching youtube videos and reading the dialogues on wikis, which I guess speaks to how ineffective they are in game. There definitely is some good depth there but for whatever reason it didn't connect while playing, and I don't think I had the banter bug. Anyway yeah I agree about it being weird that all of the outlets just loved it. It has the same sins as all the AAA games that everyone claims to be tired of (objective vomit, meaningless, no impact sidequests, open worlds with stuff to do but nothing to do). Corypheus is nonsensical and the plot falls apart despite some interesting beats.

A political game where you run the inquisition and judge people actually would be really interesting but that was really meaningless as well.

Solas is also the worst.

Yeah I still wonder about tha?. Let me recap the possibilities:
1) The main character is really boring and uncharismatic this time around, so any conversation that involves him/her becomes a bit more boring
2) We got tired of the Bioware formula / direction / voice acting
3) The open world nature of the game removes urgency from te storyline; ME/DA1 and 2 had more of a mission structure
4) All of the above

I did feel the emptiness of the open world was salvaged by by the design and personality of the areas. In essence, these are all meticulously crafted very large places, instead of just something copy/pasted ad infinitum like you'd see in Scrolls or Just Cause 2. There's always something interesting around the corner despite the game being the open world, and that's the game's saving grace to me.

BTW I meant that the game has a fun world to explore, not fun plot to explore. Also, let me add another Con: My left thumb hurts from pressing L3 too many times

Well it was pretty much the only really prominent big-budget game last year that wasn't made for a Nintendo system (and wasn't an active failure like Assassin's Creed).

Each year has its fair share of big budget games like each summer has its superhero movies. 2014 had Destiny / Far Cry 4 / Watchdogz / Titanfall / Infamous 3 / Shadow of Mordor on top of your yearly Callof/Battlefield/Assassin's Creed. Not sure if Dark Souls 2 counts as big budget now.

Wasteland 2 and Divinity 4 or whatever were praised as PCish RPGs at around the same time so there wasn't really a drought on that front

Sweet meme bro

Speaking of

DS2SOTFS Company of Champions - Ditched my pyro run because pyro ended up not as stupidly op as it was in 1, and yeah.  Restarted with a sorc build, amd hacked in a Blue Flame because I wanted to use it. Holy shit this weapon's cool. It may not necessarily be all that powerful, but there is something intrinsically satisfying about having Great Magic Weapon boost both your damage and your spell damage. Interestingly, also getting a decent bit of milage out of Strong Magic Shield in the Watchdragon Parma. Otherwise, offensive spells outside of the Soul Arrow/Spear family have been lackluster but everything else synergizes so well I don't really care. Besides, I still haven't beaten any lord soul boss except the sinner so I still have lategame spells to get.

The only real downside is that this weapon is normally locked away stupidly late or requires farming after using a bonfire aesthetic in Tseldora and meeeeeeh.

Its almost at +5 and my Int is already at 40, so if I need more damage later I may have to figure out some weapon to power stance with it, but for now I should be fine up to Shrine of Amana at least.

FF Recorder player: so I picked up Vanille from the new event and she's definitely a useful Mage, equal parts support and offense and has a sweet Limit in DeSpell. She also has a unique sprite that's not just a Relm frankensprite that I was expect. Unique poses for casting and such. It's nice.

But unfortunately she's no substitute for Lenna. I have gotten VERY dependent on her Mass Regen Soul Break. It's just the best. And I think I'd need a proper Healer with a Healing soul break to drop Lenna at this point, so it'll have to be Aeris when she becomes available. Flip side, I can totally replace Rinoa or Tyro with Vanille! Still means I'm stuck with a recycled sprite PC, but the FTP limits are strict enough that I don't want to handicap myself too much by dropping Lenna and losing battles I should be winning easily if my party was just constantly Regening HP for free.

Saints Row 3 - In which the main character literally stores a rocket launcher in the 4D pocket of his ass during a plot mission. I have no idea how Saints Row 4 is supposed to top this kind of insanity and it's probably gonna be worth playing it just to find out.

That's what I was hoping. Half the appeal of playing Saints Row 3 is just finding out precisely the depths of its unhinged ridiculousness (the other half is buying and dressing fabulous attire. I'm actually considering buying the DLC costumes).

You may also enjoy the Gentlemen of Steelport mod, which adds some new clothing and different clothing options for all your pretty princess dress up needs.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

Geralt really really doesn't like fall damage. He's closer to Mario from Donkey kong than to a Dark Souls character. I made him fall from about three meters and he lost one third of his health.

FF Record Keeper: Joseph does the most damage now, Joseph rules. About 1200 dmg per strike when Cloud does 950.
I am close to getting 50 mithrils, and I praise the rng gods every minute in anticipation. But deep down I know it will only give me 10 staves plus one three stars spear.

Even if the game gives me nothing but staves , I still feel like I have a pretty good team right now. (Except Cyan of course, but i'm already starting to replace him with Vanille)
Daily dungeons make upgrading everything a breeze so I have maxed weapons on everybody. Soon I'll also have maxed armor. Yay

btw, Briggs >>> Atma weapon

Edit: i got pretty lucky!
I got duplicates for my good weapons plus a five star sword for Cloud. And a five stars princess dress that JOSEF can equip.

Final Fantasy Auto-Battle Never Ends - 1x Grefter Vanille acquired, caught her up with Growth Eggs from her event dungeon and replaced Rydia. I figure a second healer can't possibly hurt me, especially when she's almost as good at Black Magic. Right now, I realized my physical dudes OHKO FF7 Elite Dungeon randoms, so I'm giving them a go for shinies. Current party is Wakka/Cloud/KAIN/Grefter Vanille/Lenna.
