Pillars of Eternity- one of my party members's pathfinding AI got stuck on a tree and now I'm unable to leave the area. Trying to figure out whether I should just reload a save from a few minutes earlier or find a way to fix this.

Yeah, Obsidian's bug checking is in classic form with this one.

(Here's a list of known bugs that will permanently break your save in some way. They're all avoidable, at least.)

Started up Phoenix Wright.  It's pretty amazing.  Will have more to say later.

I just got the keep in PoE. Interesting plot stuff there, and it opened the first round of meaningful party conversations. Durance is fun. Others are still just kind of there, but I'm looking forward to the elf getting some lines, at least.

Enemies in the next area to the east are kicking my ass, so maybe I should try wrapping up the big quest from the first town. It seems like it's possible to do via stealth, so we'll see how that goes.

I was interested in Valiant Hearts, not anymore!
Valiant Hearts is definitely the kind of game that should be made more often but the creators have to know what exactly they're wanting to accomplish. Is it an adventure focused on character? Is it contrasting the differences between people from disparate economic classes and countries in this era? Is it an educational game for kids? Is it trying to show how fucked up war is? Any of these would have been a worthwhile concept to build a game around, but I think the most damning thing about Valiant Hearts is that after playing it, I can't tell you what it is trying to do.

Was it a bunch of Druids?  Because there was a pack of 5 in an area that made me give up and progress the plot as well.  Just AlE my whole party down and have massive HP pools relative to normal castes o have faced.

Undead backed by groups of forest trolls. I ended up sneaking around them and into the big city. Those druids are also assholes, but can also be avoided if you move carefully and stick to the south. Can't stealth around them, they spot you instantly unless (I assume) your whole party is ninjas, but if you give them a wide berth you can move around the rest of the area without fighting. Glad I did, because the town past them has easily the most interesting PC in the game thus far -- who is also a Cypher, supposedly the best class to boot.

PoE- I opted just to reload an earlier save, since the only progress I lost was recruiting Durance and fighting a couple of wolves. Easy enough to redo, but now I'm seriously considering grabbing Kid Icarus Uprising from Club nintendo and playing that for a month or two while waiting for Oblivion to patch the game.

Bloodborne:

"Hey screw this, let's forget about all of this"
"Yes."
-FIN-

I'm pretty sure I missed some Frue final boss there, but my final boss at least was a wet nurse, which is pretty awesome, you'll have to admit.

I'm going to restart as Harry Potter next. Arcane build, round glasses.
Change the default character's hair, and add glasses, and you pretty much get Harry Potter. It's too easy.

Bloodborne is a Souls game that's still its own thing. It is absolutely fantastic, I was amazed many times, and I do not regret getting a PS4 for it at all. I'd say that Dark Souls 2 is a more refined game overall; Bloodborne has more warts, but it's more ambitious.

Nier - The plot just took me to the Forest of Myth.

... ... ... okay that was actually kinda awesome. I've been waiting a while for the game to do something like that.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - Beaten again on Hard Mode. Still great, etc. Realised that I'd never played as Albus before, so I started up a file on that. I'm about halfway through. Things I've noticed:
-Spamming guns does a crazy amount of damage from long range, and many enemies aren't balanced around this at all.
-There is still good enemy design (obviously, since it's still OoE enemies), but it's much harder to appreciate.
-There are some neat unique platforming things about this mode (in this case, the extra jumps which cost MP).
-The game's plot is non-existant.
-Several key menu functionalities are removed compared to normal gameplay... for some reason.

Conclusion: Albus mode is Devil May Cry 2.

I'm still going to finish it because frankly Normal Mode just flies by.

Fenrirest Soulslike or not?  Ambitious and unrefined is very Fenrir.  Transforming weapons are very Fenrir.

I like it a whole lot, but the Chalice Dungeons are very un-Fenrir for a Souls game, and they're essentially here to make up for the shorter length of the game compared to regular Souls.

They're all about getting phat l00t with +XX% bonuses in non-great dungeons. Said bonuses can be very varied but you'll likely only care about +% HP and +% damage, from what I've seen. Oh wow, I could do +15% damage against guys named Zenthor. Or I could just get +10% damage against everything. CHOICES.
I'll probably play Chalice dungeons ad nauseum anyway (duh)

There is one actually cool rune side effect I've found, and it's the one that restores bullets whenever you do a bullet parry, so you can just go on forever parrying everything if you're good.

I beat the first boss with Harry Potter, and am already wondering how I ever had any trouble with the earlygame enemies. (Not the first boss though, he's still pretty nasty)
I am pretty sad that the game went straight to NG+, because I wanted to do more Yattaf PvP with the hand cannon (that thing is nuts)

Forgot to mention endgame stats:

35 Vit
28 End
30 Str
13 Skill
Base everything else
Vitality is the new God Stat, as healing scales with max HP.

Axe +9
Cannon +8
Torch +3
Sweet lightning rod +3 (I only used it to look cool whipping it)
99 Insight
6 Blood dregs

Outfit : Decadent noblewoman clothes + A cage as the helmet. Looked super silly during cutscenes

Is there a NG+ thing?  Bonfireside Chat made reference to being interested in the impacts of carry over Insight on the starting areas and how that changes the experience of them.

Hmm, I wouldn't call Albus's special a "jump" that costs MP, it's more like a "teleport."  And is totally broken, teleport past everything etc.

I played Albus Hard and recall yelling OPTICAL SHOT a lot.  Screen-clearing attack that does holy damage?  Make a little tiny hop first and you don't get rooted in place, too.  Okay there are a few enemies weak to slashing but not weak to Holy and they can get shot normally, but even then, that's more dangerous as you have to stand still for a bit.  Jumping & teleporting around while white & black swirly lines fill the screen is the way.

But yeah, good times.  Not as good as Shanoa mode but a cool twist.

Albus has an extra jump which costs MP. Up+L, I believe? The teleport is apparently something involving the touchscreen which I'm ignoring. I guess it'll be used to get past Paries walls in Dracula's castle or something.

Optical Shot is pretty nice for crowds, but every boss and single tougher random I've just pureed with gunspam from as the edge of range. It's kinda dumb. I have concluded that boss Albus clearly had the worst AI of all time.

Yeah there's good old NG+ with buffed enemies like in Souls game. I haven't noticed anything different from playing in NG+, but I didn't go very far, I wanted to try Harry Potter Gaiden instead.
There are a lot of items that have an arcane stat req and that consume bullets, this sounded pretty fun and it's the game's new magic system. Note that you can trade health for bullets at a fairly nice rate.

Spoiler stuff: I've run through the early parts of the game again with 99 Insight, and have only really noticed one major difference.

I quite like Albus mode ""on paper"" but I always get bored with it immediately. Whereas I've gone through every extra mode in PoR multiple times.

Durability is a nonissue. You can go ages without bothering to do anything about just like in DS1, and it only applies to melee weapons anyway.

I just fought a martyr king who had a throne installed on the roof of his giant frozen castle, not giving any fucks. Very difficult and fun battle, probably one of the best in the Souls series, just like Pops earlygame. Looks impossible on NG+. (unless you rely on parries, maybe?)

I actually hated that fight because of his tendency to fly out of camera range before stomping on your head. Did you grab his crown? It's not entirely obvious that it's sitting on the floor in the middle of the room (instead of forced into your inventory like most boss drops). Wearing it opens up a new area behind his throne. It's also pretty swank and part of my preferred outfit along with noble dress + knight's gloves and skirt. Looks very queenly.

Nightmare Frontier is done, 100% as bad as advertised (even with maxed frenzy resist I died from that once, and boulders seem to be like OHKO damage even with 1100+ HP). Know I missed some loot in there but cannot divide by the number of fucks given. The boss took a couple tries. Should've been cool but camera souls was rampant like it usually is with gigantic enemies that can't fit in the screen. I had to switch back to the whip because the daggers couldn't hit his head, very annoying. Also chalk up another boss killed by throwing knives because it was too much of a bitch hitting him otherwise during the last phase where he totally wigs out. So glad I keep stocked up on those things.

I'm pretty burnt out on this latter third or so of the game but I'm trying to be thorough because I don't want to play this again. It's a very neat game, does lots of cool things and is definitely worth playing for any Souls enthusiast, but the shift from well-intentioned people tragically turning into monsters that it seemed like was Bloodborne's theme in the first half moving instead to "No actually the church was really always interested in UFOs and star children so here's all Chthulhuspace all the time" is really jarring and doesn't work for me at all, especially knowing I'm basically at the end of the game and there is nothing more to it than that. A lot of this stuff could've been better suggested than shoved in your face.

So at this point I'm just FAQing whatever it seems like I'd otherwise miss. Retrieved the key for the workshop and went for the upper Cathedral Ward. This place is populated primarily by Jim Henson's Allant Babies and that is exactly as bad as it should sound. Fought the second boss in the basement, got it halfway down, died because someone thought it was a good idea to give her a massively powerful charging dive that executes at the same time you're already trying to dodge a barrage of laser bolts. Thanks guys, there's 1/3 of my healing supplies down the drain. Fuck this place for now.

Fenrir, is there another lamp in Unseen Village past the chapel warp point? I'm getting too frustrated trying to deal with the hunters keeping the prison lamp locked out, so if there's something else later then I'll just skip them and move on.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - So far, I landed three victory runs: Isaac vs. Mom, Isaac vs. Mom's Heart and Magdalene vs. Mom's Heart. They finally made Brimstone good again, which fills me with joy. Brimstone has long been one of my favorite powerups and its gimping for Wrath of the Lamb was very sadface. That said, still Isaac, but far more stable and even more off-the-wall bonkers.

Double-Dealing Characters - I didn't even -know- ZUN had a Touhou 14 out. Got my ass kicked by stage 6 on Easy. Dear god, I suck.

Subterranean Animism - As missing a 1cc on Easy with MarisaA proves.

Very worth going through carefully if you can, though. Not only is the Cipher in town really good but there's a recruitable Druid hanging out in the forest who can absolutely wreck shit (and again, has a neat backstory/character quest).

I finally started moving the main plot along after realizing why I never got to Mad Lord Whatshisname's castle after the first town - I completely missed the eastern exit that leads to it. Whoops. It was a cakewalk with a full party and a couple of extra levels, though, so I'm not complaining. I sneaked through, played the two advisers against each other without killing either, and then opted for the boss fight at the end. Now I'm poking around Defiance Bay, accumulating quests that I may someday make actual progress in.

Oh, one thing that's been noted pretty well in other places but people who are actually taking the game's combat seriously should definitely be aware of so I'm posting it here: Disengage, the first-level priest spell, is bonkers. It basically turns one person into Switzerland, unable to attack but impossible for enemies to engage in combat. Except they can still block enemies' movement, so if you have somebody stand in a chokepoint and cast the spell, your ranged characters can cut loose without fear.

PoE: I am a monk(Human Oceanfolk). Gate punches things, act shocked. Monk is...not that good so far. I have neither the offense nor defense to drop enemies before they drop me most of the time. Sadness.

Playing on easymodo because I am a scrub who is bad at micro, enjoying it well enough thus far. Get wrecked by undead in the church area, come back later when I have a full party, wreck the undead in return. Now off to confront Lord Evil McHangspeople. His sewers are full of ~more~ undead. He hasn't even appeared on screen yet but just keeps getting eviler by the minute.
