La Pucelle: Tactics
« on: January 15, 2008, 11:59:41 PM »
Yes, we could have used this a long while ago.  I didn't have access to the game, sue me ( as long as you don't bring Zombie Cochran against me, I'll be fine ).

Anyway, this is a topic, taken slightly differently than I intended to.  I didn't play the game through again, simply because that would take too long.  So, here are the settings and assumptions I took for this:

1) Level 50 for all characters, except Salade at 60.  This is higher than I would have wanted to use, but still keeps the general idea.  Basically, Salade joins at level 50 when the rest of your characters are about level 30; these were the levels I wanted to use originally.  This still retains Salade's level advantage, and usually by level 70, everyone is equal anyway, so this compromises everything decently well.

2) I'm using shop level 6.  While I had originally intended to use shop level 9, I realized that that stuff is...extremely expensive.  Shop level 6 is the last shop level with prices below 6 figures, so I figured this would be the best place to stop.  I'll list equipment options in a bit.

3) Speaking of equipment: characters have 4 equipment slots, like Disgaea.  However, you can equip 4 of anything: 4 weapons, 4 armours, 4 rings, etc.  I'm defaulting to 2 armours and 2 weapons each character.  Hell, here's the best place to list equipment:

Wise Staff - INT+120, SP+30, RES+30
Axe Bomber - ATK+120
Karate Chop! - ATK+130, HIT+20, SPD+20
Megaton Punch - ATK+140, HP+40, SPD-20, HIT-20
Wise Robe - DEF+105, INT+40, RES+40, SP+40
Guts Vest - DEF+128
Thor's Armour - DEF+140, SPD+40, RES+20
Odin's Armour - DEF+140, SP+20, RES+20
Ghost Cape - DEF+100, HP+30, SPD+30, RES+30
Divine Book - SP+60, RES+60

There are also some status weapons (Poison, Paralysis) which have 70 and 110 ATK, respectively, that inflict the status ~30%.  Fairly worthless, to me.

I'm defaulting to certain sets for certain characters.  Basically, here's the set-up I'm using:

Axe Bomber (Alouette will be using 1 Wise Staff in place of a Axe Bomber)
Axe Bomber (Culotte will be using 2 Wise Staves in place of the Axe Bombers)
Odin's Armour
Odin's Armour

4) Stats!  Actually, these are very similar to Disgaea, with one exception:

HP - Life
SP - Needed for special abilities
ATK - Physical punching power
DEF - Physical non-dying power
HIT - Accuracy, affects prevalence of stat-skill effects
INT - Magical nuking power
SPD - Speed and evasion (unlike Disgaea, this can be taken as actual speed in most senses, and not just for the clinically insane like me; this stat affects who acts first in LPT "battles")
RES - Magical non-dying power

5) Skill levels...are not equal, unfortunately.  I'm listing the levels of them with their damage, so it can be scaled accordingly.  I had a penchant for the cheaper skills (Coup de Grace, Holy Punch, etc.), so those are the really high ones, comparatively.  It makes a little difference, but shouldn't do too much.  All damage was tested on an arbitrary DEF stat of 304, and RES stat of 318.

Anyway, that's about it!  Here we go!

Thread necro time!  A few comments.

Quote
SPD - Speed and evasion (unlike Disgaea, this can be taken as actual speed in most senses, and not just for the clinically insane like me; this stat affects who acts first in LPT "battles")

"Most senses" is a bit of a stretch.  To elaborate on this some - LPT is turn-based with strict alternation between sides, so player turn (with a move for all PCs), enemy turn (all enemies move & act), repeat.  What speed affects is the order characters attack in regular attack "battles", although I believe a slight speed bonus is given to the initiator of such battles.  e.g. if both Prier & Culotte attack a Skeleton on your turn and you hit "Begin Battle", the order will likely be Culotte ->Prier -> Skeleton.  If the Skeleton attacks back on his turn, it'll probably be C->P->S again, although the initiator boost makes it somewhat more likely he'll attack sooner than Prier (I think, not sure this even exists).  As such, LPT characters should be hyped for getting ATB speed only as much as turn-based RPG characters, at most.  Even this is probably too much - LPT speed is entirely irrelevant for special attacks, both allied & enemy, which is a fairly large part of the game.  In fact if both sides only use special attacks I'm pretty sure the SPD stat is meaningless, except for evasion purposes.  (Can LPT specials even miss?  I forget.)  So...  it'd be pretty reasonable to see all LPT characters as average-winning-tiebreaks, and use SPD only for further tiebreaks.

Note that per the above, LPT characters counterattack "regular" attacks with their own regular attack.  OK didn't include regular attack damage in the stat topic alas, so hard to hype this too much.  Note that your respect may vary as counters don't trigger vs. specials and specials are reasonably common (unlike, say, FE characters, who counter the vast majority of attacks in their home games).

Anyway, I'd probably still use LPT speed for determining FE doubling at least, so that's something.  (Prier hates this, Salade is happy.)

--

Damage average - OK used true to in-game attacks for his damage average (you don't normally want to use the inefficient MP-slurping attacks), but this is the DL where characters probably will unload like crazy, so this is probably a little too nice to the cast.  Notably, Eclair has enough SP for 3 Light & Darks, and Culotte has enough SP for 3 Kitty Kittys.  (Unless there's something I'm forgetting about these moves.)  Additionally, while Alouette's split axe/wand build makes some sense if she's entirely restricted to one build, I think most people would be willing to let her switch from 2 wands to 2 axes by match.  As such I think 2x wand Holy Bells is the right call here for the damage average (since OK has that move benefiting weirdly a lot from the 2x wand build - some mult issue, I suppose).

If it makes the cast feel any better, Croix would probably drag the average down a tiny bit (Sacrifice is OPB when he leaves certainly); I'd think he should be included, but alas OK didn't get all the numbers, so probably best to leave him out.  Also regular attack counters will randomly help in some matches.

Damage
1) Salade - 886 (Holy Truth)
_ Dark Eclair - 655 (Light & Dark)
2) Homard - 590 (Demon Blade)
3) Prier - 561 (Coup de Grace)
4) Alouette - 533 (Holy Bells)
5) Eclair - 521 (Light & Dark)
6) Yattanya - 446 (Giant Paw)
_ Light Eclair - 387 (Light & Dark)
7) Culotte - 286 (Kitty, Kitty)
8) Papillon - 162 (Fairy Charge)

Average: 498 (killpoint: 1245)
OK's average: 463 (killpoint: 1157)
