Mechanics
Eternal Poison is a CTB-based SRPG.  Pretty simple for the most part.  There is a mechanic where characters moving across a square directly in front of or directly diagonal in front of a character of the opposing team causes them to use 2 MOVE rather than 1.  This makes it harder to get to the side or behind enemies than the MOVE stats here indicate.

Elements
There are ten elements in Eternal Poison:
Physical: Slash, Strike, Pierce.
Magical: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Dark, Light
Meta: Meta.

While I classified them as Physical and Magical, there are attacks that will be part magical elemental but hit physical defense.  I just use these terms as they are generally which defense is hit by those attacks.

Meta is generally magical in nature, but is basically the "non-elemental" element of the game, so I listed it seperately.  It behaves differently than the other magical elements.

Stats
STR/VIT/INT/MND/SPD are considered base stats, while ATK/DEF/MDF are derived stats.

HP: Lose these and you become the demons.
MOVE: How many spaces you can move.  Moving across a space in front of or diagonally in front of an enemy costs twice as much.
STR: Affects physical damage.
VIT: Affects physical defense.
INT: Affects magical damage and power of healing spells.
MND: Affects magical defense.
SPD: Affects CTB speed.  I believe actual CTB speed is 500+SPD, but this is also modified after attacking, moving, etc.  I'm not sure about the mechanics completely, so I will be using 500+SPD for now.

ATK: Physical attack.  Each ATK point is worth 1 more damage before resistance, direction bonuses, and distance penalties.
DEF: Physical defense.  Each DEF point takes away 1 damage before resistance, direction bonuses, and distance penalties.
MDF: Magical defense.  Each MDF point takes away 1 damage before resistance.

Evade: Evade rate as a percentage.
Counter: Counter rate as a percentage.
Critical: Critical rate as a percentage.

Fire: Fire resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Water: Water resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Earth: Earth resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Air: Air resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Dark: Dark resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Light: Light resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.

Slash: Slash resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Strike: Strike resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.
Pierce: Pierce resistance.  Negative indicates weakness.  Values over 100 indicate the attack is reflected.

Status effects
There are two types of status effects: physical and mental.  There are also positive and negative status effects in both of these types.  Only one physical status and one mental status may be applied at any given time.  Any status of the same time applied later will overwrite the status.  The exception is that positive status effects will never overwrite negative status effects, though negative status effects will overwrite positive status effects.  All status effects can be reapplied and wear off at the beginning of the target's fifth turn (I think) after the status is (re)applied, unless otherwise noted.

Physical status effects
Negative:
Bleed: Lose 10% HP every time you move, attack, lead, or get attacked physically.
Fracture: Physical attack and defense are no longer affected by STR or VIT (mechanically this is the same as setting STR and VIT to 0) and movement penalties from equipment are doubled.  [Against average STR and VIT, this decreases physical damage they give by 118 and increases physical damage they take by 56.]
Disease: All base stats are reduced by 30%, all healing is halved, and evasion, critical, and counter rates are halved.  [Against average STR, VIT, INT, MND, and SPD, this decereases physical damage they give by 36, increases physical damage they take by 17, decreases magical damage they give by 28, increases magical damage they take by 7, and reduces their speed to 84%.]
Slow: SPD is halved.  [Against average SPD, this decreases their speed to 73%.]
Chill: SPD is reduced to 1 and physical affinities are set to: Slash 30%, Strike -100%, Pierce 50%.  Wears off on the next turn.  [This reduces speed to 47%.]

Positive:
Defense: Resistance to physical elements is increased by 25%.
Shield: The next physical attack is nullified.
Haste: SPD is increased by 30%.
Regenerate: 20% mHP is recovered each turn.

Mental status effects
Negative:
Sleep: SPD is reduced to 1, the target is unable to act, and any physical attack against the target will critical and not miss.  Wears off on the next turn or when damaged.  [This reduces speed to 47%.]
Fear: The unit may only select "MOVE" during turns and cannot counter.
Confuse: Target will physically attack random targets (cannot self target).
Seal: Cannot use magic.
Curse: All passive skills are nullified and active (physical) skills cannot be used.  All opponents' evade, counter, and critical abilities will take effect 100% of the time.

Positive:
Magic Def: Resistance to magical elements is increased by 25%.
Magic Shield: The next magic attack is nullified.

Status is resisted by hidden parameters on every majin, so it's hard to tell how accurate a status is.  From casual testing, it seems like status hover around 67% hit rate on average, so I'm going with that.  It differs highly on what you try to hit with it but the resistance is hidden so it's hard to tell.

Status inflicted by non-damage spells seem to go 100%, but still mitigated by resistance.

Status inflicted by character/majin unique skills seem to have perfect accuracy.

Proficiencies
In each of the six magical elements, every character has a proficiency.  This affects two things: the power of magic attacks of that element and (to a lesser extent) their resistance in that element.  They rank from E-A and S, with S being the highest.

Damage mechanics
The damage formulae are as follows.

Physical: damage = (AT-DEF)*dirMod*(100-resist)/100*distMod
AT := (weap_mod+skill_mod)*STR+weap_ATK
DEF := armor_VIT_mod*VIT+armor_DEF

For basic physicals, skillMod := 0.

Magical: damage = (AT-MDF)*(100-resist)/100
AT := prof_INT_mod*INT+prof_PWR_mod*spell_PWR
MDF := armor_MND_Mod*MND+armor_MND

For meta skills, AT := spellPWR.

Characters and Story System
There are five stories.  The first four are normal stories, while the fifth one is slightly different and will be ignored for the rest of this paragraph.  In each of the stories, there are unique story characters that are forced on every map.  In addition, there are twelve mercenaries that show up on all stories and are not required.  For each of the stories, I have listed an average that includes the unique characters and all of the mercenaries.  For mercenaries, I took an average of these four averages, which represents them well.

Most unique characters have two different classes to choose from.  I've listed both, but tagged one as "(default)".  This is the one I use in averages and would assume default in RPGmon.

Levels are taken at 21.  There are no random battles, so the amount of EXP to be passed around is limited.  My average level was between 20 and 22 for the beginning of the last battle, so 21 is a decent endgame level to use.  It is possible to get people way above this level (I got Levatte to 30, and had several people above 24 each story, for example), so if anything, I think this level is kind of low.

There is some equipment that requires beyond level 21 to use.  I allowed this anyways.  This mostly benefits fighters, but mages get a small boost as well, so it's not a big deal.

Notes
*Elemental physical attacks follow the same formula as basic physical attacks, except it has another multiplier: (200-resistB)/200, where resistB is for the magical element of the attack.  For example, using Fire Atk with a slashing weapon, the damage would be (AT-DEF)*dirMod*(200-fireResist)/200*(100-slashResist)/100*dirMod.
tl;dr: A 100% fire weak character takes 50% more damage from FireAtk, while a 50% fire weak would take 25% extra, etc.  The weakness is halved, basically.

A slight correction: Resistances over 100 count as reflection (percentage equal to the amount above 100), not absorption.

Are you sure about this?  I know the game and manual say this, but when I hit an enemy with somethng it had 100 in they absorbed the attack.

When I hit an enemy with over 100%, I remember getting some portion reflected back on me.  It's definitely a reflection effect.
