Blue Dragon and FF4: The After Years both added at 6/10.

Downgrades, they never end:
Breath of Fire, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (-1, now at 5/10)
Final Fantasy 9, Lunar SSSC (-1, now at 4/10)

Also reshuffled the 8/10's, 6/10's, and 2/10's a little.

Mass Effect 2 down to 9/10. This is definitely not going to age as well as the four other 10/10 games, and I'm a bit annoyed by how superficial the moral choice are. Still great, obviously. It's probably all downhill for Bioware from now on.

Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals get a 5/10. I like how they tried a lot of new things, I like how it's now an ARPG, I like the puzzles, I love the character design, I like how every place is varied now. I hate how you take 1 damage from everything everywhere and how boring the Ancient Cave now is.

King's Field J gets a 4/10: Promising start, then got boring. Still more exciting than the mediocre 3/10 games.

Soma Bringer gets a 3/10: How repetitive. Again, this could have been really excellent, but the balance was botched and the game doesn't really have anything else going for it.

Grandia Parallel Trippers gets a 3/10. Meh. There's not too much competition on the gameboy color, but this fares poorly compared to something like FFA or the FFL games IMO.

SaGa 1 (Wonderswan) gets a 5/10. Same game as FFL.

Knight Quest gets a 3/10. I had forgotten this game even though I did a freaking stat topic of it. So memorable.

Fable 3 down to 5/10. Add challenge/ fix the economy next time.

So...fair warning--I do actually seem to be semi-motivated about getting an up-to-date global list.

Also...you know that scene in Harry Potter where Hermione Granger is like "if only we had some matches", and Ron is like "Matches?? Are you a witch or not?"

Yeah, I'm having one of those moments, where I was like "Gosh, it takes so long to enter all this in by hand." "Entering by hand??? Am I a programmer or not?"

Which means I'm going to try to machine read the lists from this topic. So...ideally all the lists would be identically formatted; that's not going to happen, of course, but if I only have to deal with three or four different formats instead of 10-12, that would be good. (And specifically, avoid stuff a machine won't understand like "Pokemon, all of them: 7/10" or "Tales of the Abyss: 6.5ish")

I will also have an interm step where I'll need help spotting the variant names of different games. (Y'know, FF6, FFVI, Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy VI, FF3/6. Computers can't tell the difference, so I'll just need to make lists of "this collection of names means the same game"). I'll post asking for help if/when I get that far.

I've edited my list, which was last looked at in 2008 or whatever, but then I haven't actually played that many RPGs since, so not too bad.

I removed all the demi-RPGs a la Metroidvanias or Threads of Fate. (Most borderline is probably Mass Effect 2 which I added anyway, even if the combat system is Halo, there's towns & dialogues & upgrades & branching paths and all, so sufficiently RPG-y.)

I had manually input all of the data myself about 2 years ago. And I handed off that spreadsheet to... someone? who updated it further (probably about 1.5 years old at this point?).

That might be a good springboard to start from if you don't want to have to write a whole program for this...

Lost Odyssey, starred: 4/10. I intend to complete this at some point and the ranking is subject to change, but for now, this will do.

Hurray, 100 games!

Wild Arms XF: Down 1 to 9/10 because I feel it is closer to FF13 than to Radiant Dawn.
FF9: Down 1 again to 3/10 because it has aged about as well as milk left out in a Cuban summer.

General rebalancing to account for the fact that I have played above average games of late:
Wild Arms ACF, Pokemon GSC, Pokemon RBY: Down 1 to 5/10.
Xenosaga Episode I, Breath of Fire 2: Down 1 to 4/10.

I'm not terribly happy with the distribution of some of my 7's and 8's but I'll give them more of a look some other time.

Finally updating after TOO DAMN LONG. Probably forgetting something I played...

FF13-2 - 7/10: Hey look, a sequel that actually respects the original game! Still overall inferior, but at least it doesn't embarass itself when compared side by side.

Lost Odyssey - 7/10: Fun classic style RPG, the flaws I didn't find as apparent as others on this board

Pokemon Conquest - 5/10: Cute game but just a little too simplistic and repetitive with some nuisance factors.

Pokemon Black/White - 8/10: Arguably best game to date in the series,so yeah, gets scored similar to the OTHER best entries!

FF4HoL - 2/10: Hey, lets take all the bad qualities of an old Dragon Quest game, and shove a Final Fantasy Paint Job on it! NO ONE WILL NOTICE IT! Sorry, even cute situations like Aire's curse and the game being about HATS doesn't save it from being just a poor game.

Moved:

Earthbound: 5/10 (-2): Having replayed the game recently...it doesn't hold up nearly as well as I thought it did. Age very much shows.

FE9 - 9/10 (-1): Yeah, can't really justify this being as high as FE10.

Sword of Mana - 4/10 (-1): Thinking about it, what does this game do right? Not much. Definitely does a few things wrong, just not enough to make it horrid.

FF5 - 8/10 (+1)
FF3 - 7/10 (-1): Ok, I have no clue how FF5 was below FF3 for this long, and why FF3 was that high. Probably just didn't catch the scenario or something.

Blue Dragon - 6/10 (-2): Ranked way too high; I liked Lost Odyssey more so yeah.

AtL4 - 5/10 (-1): Game is average at best and what not.

AtL3 - 4/10 (-1): this game is NOT average at all meanwhile!

L:EBC - 7/10 (-1): Was ranked way too high for too long and I didn't notice.

Sacred 2: 1/10. Never has a game made me feel so empty inside (with the exceptions of all those 0/10 games on the list)
Lord of the Rings War in the North *: 2/10. I trusted you, Snowbind.
Inindo: 4/10. Original! Atrocious to the senses! Double the game speed and we'll talk.
Dragon Age 2: 4/10. Change the battle system and we'll talk.
Penny Arcade 1/2: 6/10. Hilarious. Pleasant. Too expensive.
Penny Arcade 3: 8/10. Less hilarious. Less pleasant. Now with godly gameplay.
FF13: 6/10. Change A TON OF STUFF and you have a 10/10 game. Sounds unimpressive, but I can't actually say that about a lot of RPGs.
Diablo 3: 7/10. Crazy good and fun at what it does. It's just that what it does isn't that interesting.
Mass Effect 3: 7/10. Solid, nowhere near as memorable as ME2.

Shining Soul 1/2 down to 6/10. Not really holding up.
Drakkhen up to 1/10. Too entertaining to be bottom of the barrel.
