The monstrous bug monster is back and quite ready to take another stab at a Godlike championship. And once again, he has quite an easy opening match. Though Arc's Invincible skill is quite the nasty trick, the fact remains that it's merely a trick that won't see him the whole way through the long fight against Jade. Jade can easily weather Arc's weak attacks while waiting for an opening to blast him with BoltX - and it shouldn't take many to take down even the legendary hero.

V

S

The Lad will have to move fast in this match. While Arc can easily nullify everything Jade can throw at him with Invincible, it's only a matter of time before he runs out of MP. Before that happens, though, Arc will be free to throw everything he has against his opponent with impunity, from his stat down spells to his impressive physical attacks. He'll have to be careful to keep Invincible up at all times, but Arc has to be confident about his chances.

Lavos finds himself up against fellow would-be world destroyer Indalecio this week. And while the Wise Man would argue that the annihilation he almost inflicted went far beyond anything Lavos could even imagine, Lavos can always counter with the fact that in many timelines, he actually succeeded! These two superbeings will turn their annihilative tendencies on each other this week, and Lavos won't be outdone easily. With good speed and powerful attacks such as Crush and Crying Heavens, the 65-million year old monstrosity is in a good position to win his debut match.

V

S

The demented and insanely powerful being known as Indalecio is all but laughing at his first matchup. While Lavos was on the verge of shaping his pitiful world into a barren wasteland, Indalecio was a hair away from utterly annilhilating the universe. The two are similar in many aspects, but the leader of the Wise Men outshadows his opponent in every relevant area - durability, damage, speed. Wielding ridiculously powerful magic and a casting speed unmatched even in Godlike, Indalecio can shatter Lavos to pieces with just about anything of his choosing.

She can't call on her butler to protect her from danger, but Ellen Kirishima is by no means less impressive than her counterpart Nate. Ellen's opening match against Feena seems to be the work of angels in her favour. Protected by her Persona, Ellen has little to fear going into this match. With her trusty rapier and powerful spellcasting, Ellen should easily advance to the next round without a hitch. It's not like she can let Nate one-up her, right?

V

S

The intrepid adventuress faces a great challenge in her first Godlike encounter; her opponent shuts down her attack magic and her better whip techniques. But who cares? Feena still has Time Gate, the technique that allows her to gain four turns on her opponent instantly. Four turns of damage adds up, even with only normal physicals. Para Whip's high odds of Paralysis further hurts Ellen's case. Ellen may be new, but Feena's not pulling any punches for her.

Godlike's resident thong-sporting mage returns for another run at the championship, first facing the perfect SOLDIER. That may intimidate many, but not Kuja; totally immune to the worst of Sephiroth's attacks, namely Super Nova and Pale Horse, the Genome also shrugs off Shadow Flare thanks to Reflect. In other words this duel is a battle between Kuja's powerful magic assault and Flare Star counters and Sephiroth's sole physical attack, a battle in which Kuja handily leads in offense.

V

S

After suffering defeat in the hands of the Dragon Fou-lu back in Season 4, Sephiroth comes back into the Arena with a vengeance. He has many advantages over his opponent this week, having both considerably higher defense and higher overall HP than the cross-dressing villain. Although Kuja may beat him in fashion sense, there is very little doubt that the One Winged Angel can beat him in the Arena.

Grim-faced, fearsome, and loyal to the core, Adelbert Steiner is a terror even by the standards of heavy. His Tin Armor gives him outstanding physical and magical defense on top of his very high HP, and Ragnarok powers his high level offense. Ramza's middling physical and Ultima spell will do little to stop Steiner, and the young warrior can do nothing to stop the wave of Shocks that will drive the Alexandrian knight to a win.

V

S

With a rebel yell, Ramza Beoulve begins his search for a Heavy title. Though the chain of command in the knighthood would suggest that he's lower than his opponent this week, Ramza's no stranger at taking down those above him. If the young squire is to have any chance at winning, he'll have to stat buff quickly and efficiently, using whatever he can to either evade or block Steiner's powerful sword abilities.

Gala has a tough decision ahead of him. Should he obliterate Fina with a bunch of Regular Arts, or put on a show and build up for Biron's Rage? Perhaps he could even use the power of Voltagor, as distasteful as it would be to use a Ra-Seru. Of course, he'll also be taunting Fina while polishing his store-bought Stone Amulet - assuming, of course, he doesn't kill off Fina before he could even open his mouth. Whatever he decides, this mighty monk master will maul his merry way to the next round without much trouble.

V

S

Fina's first RPGDL match looks to be quite a challenge for the young Silvite, but she's seen much worse. Gala isn't one of the fastest or the greatest of fighters in the world of Legaia, nor does he have any way to defend against her status spells. A couple castings of Lunar Glyph should keep the monk stoned long enough for her to unleash a battle-ending Eternum. Of course, she always has the alternative of just bashing him to death with her surprisingly strong Final Cupil. Either way, it's Fina's time to prove herself worthy of Heavy, and she's not about to give up without a fight.

Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger Ashley Winchester is ready to rock. After getting kicked out of Godlike in Season 1, he finally gets a chance to redeem himself in Heavy. This week, he is up against the cool-headed Expellian swordsman, Dias Flac. Despite Dias' speed and skill, Ashley has an easy match this week. Instead of using Access and morphing into Knightblazer, Ashley should use his quicker and more efficient FullClip move to pump Dias full of lead, which will more than likely kill the longhaired swordman.

V

S

Dias Flac is perhaps the most skilled swordsman in Expel. Because of the Crimson Diablo's ID protection, Ashley Winchester's cheapshot Accelerator/DeadorAlive strategy will prove to be worthless. Also, the Crimson Diablos effectively doubles Dias' attack power, giving Illusion enough punch to knock the young leader of ARMs out quickly. With this added punch along with the speed of his sword techniques, Dias' first match may very well last "ten seconds.

T260G faces the greatest of the three legendary Ogre Battle Dragoons, Fogel, in his first League appearance. Luckily for the robot, T260G actually outclasses Fogel in raw stats. The mech will easily outslug the dragoon after pumping his stats up with V-Max. That's not where his advantages end; Cosmic Rave does amazing damage, and his regeneration will keep him afloat during the Dragoon's onslaught. Where the powers of superheroes and mystics have failed, science will prevail!

V

S

Fogel's first opponent is somewhat alien to him, as he's never seen a robot before. Even with that, the mighty Dragoon is more than able to take him down. The Omega form gives T260G the ability to take more than a few of his physicals without getting torn apart. Even with the Omega body giving T260G some minor chance against Fogel, it won't be enough. Even with V-Max in play, there's no way for the mech to match Fogel in either attack power, or durability. With his massive speed and defensive edge, Fogel is on the path to eventually take home a RPGDL heavy title.

As the first armadillo to compete in the RPGDL, Rand has certain expectations to live up to. Armadillos are expected to have a strong, tank-like exterior, something Rand possesses in spade. Something that they aren't expected to have, however, is a repertoire of potent healing spells and solid earth magic, both trademarks of Rand. With all these skills, Rand should easily move past his first round opponent, striking a blow for his kind in the process.

V

S

Sprigg doesn't have the awesome might of her opponent this week. But what she lacks in power, she makes up for in versatility. As long as Sprigg can survive to make just one volley of attacks, she can access the Dopplegang ability. This ability grants her nearly unlimited variety in her attacking choices. Whether her form has instant death and status, healing and accuracy, or becomes a guy who looks like a girl, Sprigg can be ready for anything Rand throws at her.

The blood of the Light divison is on Gijimu's axes, reflecting just how much success he's had last season. His upgrade to Middle means he's in for much tougher fights, and he'll get one in Destin. He'll likely be facing Destin's Warrior form, a fast character with solid defense. Gijimu won't be able to match Destin turn for turn, but he can out-tank his opponent with his Windspun Armor and Doublebeat Rune. A critical or two will be all it takes to push him to a win.

V

S

The blond-haired Ogre Battle main makes his first appearance in the DL, and it looks as if he will easily overcome the returning Light champion. The hero and his one dimensional but powerful opponent are quite similar, with both possessing high attack and defense but little else. However, Destin has a great speed advantage with his deadly triple-striking blade. It won't be easy, but Destin’s better speed and high defenses that will eventually win him this match.

Noted gambler and rare silver-haired hero Setzer Gabbiani makes his long-awaited RPGDL debut this week. Packing both good armour and the devastating Fixed Dice, he plans to make that debut a win. His extremely powerful dice bypass defence, meaning Alice will take a beating to his attacks regardless of her choice of undergarments, and their random yet potentially devastating damage is just the thing needed to overcome a healer like her. Will Setzer's luck pull him through in his first match?

V

S

Devastated by the loss of Yuri back in season 5, Alice seeks to gain revenge for her lover by taking a Middle championship. In her way is the gambler Setzer, who is one of the most unpredictable fighters that anyone could face. Alice brings a magical punch to the fight, and she hopes and subdue the gambler in a few rounds while healing and status buffing when needed. With any luck, Setzer’s completely random abilities will lean in her favor and hand her the win.

Agrias's first DL bout must feel anticlimactic after taking on the Lucavi and Altima. Any one of her holy swordskills whould wreak havoc on her opponent, but the confusion of Holy Explosion and Crush Punch's chance of instant death are her best bets. Both spell doom for Ras if the status hits - assuming, of course, the raw damage doesn't flatten Ras first. With the swordskills ignoring evasion, life will be short for the cross-dressing swordsman either way.

V

S

He's the most charming merchant ever to hit Middle, but Rassius's job this match is much simpler than making a sale. Agrias' status attacks may indeed be able to overwhelm him... if he were limited to his PC form. However, Rassius also happens to have an incredibly defensive boss form, which hurts Agrias seriously in this match. After a few shots of his trusty Dragon Flash, he should be off to the quarterfinals without a spot of trouble.

It's this Celestian’s first bout in the RPGDL, and you better bet that she is ready. Although Relm's elemental immunities can halve Meredy’s craymel spells, if the chipper pink-haired mage can get her hands on Undine, she'll be able to fully heal herself. As if that wasn't enough, Meredy can choose between Holy-resistant and Regen-inducing mittens, crippling the potential of Relm’s already lackluster offense.

V

S

The young painter makes her DL debut against the mage, Meredy. Although her Sketching abilities will be next to useless, she still has advantages that the mage cannot overcome. Meredy has very little physical attack power, and Relm’s elemental defense hurt her magical damage. This looks to be an open and shut match for Relm, as her attack (and chance for a following Pearl spell) will bring down the weak mage with ease.

While the Lady of El Nido is more than Rikku’s match in beauty, she has a severe disadvantage in strength. Riddel isn’t exactly known for her physical prowess or durability. However, if she can get her hands on some white elements, she not only gains powerful attack spells, but also a bevy of healing and support magic. And if worst comes to worst, Riddel can always rely on her Tech Skills and trusty staff to defeat her Al Bhed opponent.

V

S

Whether or not Rikku believes that Riddel's a fiend, there's no doubt that the Al Bhed lass will do everything in her power to win this match. While her physical attacking isn't the greatest, her Celestial Weapon will ensure a quick Overdrive. With Mix, Rikku can heal at will or inflict some serious damage. And if that's not enough, she can try and steal from her opponent's Element Grid, even if she can't use said elements - unless she finds a way to use them in some obscure Mix...

a veteran of many a battle, Brey brings an amount of wisdom that few in light can match. However, wisdom only gets one so far in the RPGDL, which is why Brey is thanking the stars for his draw. Almost all of Zieg's damage is fire elemental, which Brey halves. Zieg's own ice weakness means that Brey's Blizzard spell will be of great use. Speedup will allow Brey to easily lap Zieg. A few doubleturns and Blizzards should see Brey to his first DL win.

V

S

While Zieg is certainly one of the weakest dragoons to grace the DL, he can still score an easy victory in his first match. His opponent isn’t exactly known for his durability, which means that Zieg’s normally lackluster physical offense becomes a force to be reckoned with. While the fiery Zieg must endure Brey’s freezing barrage of Blizzards, his boss HP should see him through to the next round.

Suikoden fighters normally fear Nara - she has a field day with the typical lack of damage and magic defense. Sadly, Meg isn't a typical Suikoden fighter. Her Water Rune means that Nara's magic will be sealed off for the majority of the fight. Nara isn't without options, though. Her defense isn't too terrible, which means that she can take a few of Meg's physicals. If Nara can survive the three rounds of Silent Lake and get off a healing spell afterward, she'll easily finish Meg off.

V

S

Meg the Trickster is a seasoned fighter and the veteran of two fierce wars. In her Duelling Leage debut, her opponent is Nara - a sluggish mage with absolutely pitiful HP. In fact, it won't be surprising to see the Trick Rune finish off the gypsy girl in a single shot. Failing that, Meg still has her Water Rune to fall back on; one Silent Lake to cut off Nara's healing will be all it takes to seal a victory for Meg.
